Getting a confession is all that is needed because the evidence is already established. Potentially innocent shows that you have a wild misinterpretation of the way the character views justice. Batman tortures henchmen of every villain in almost every comic. He hasn’t always seen them rob a store or perform a violent act, but he knows their connection to the gang, so he views them as likely culprits.Even the intro to the animated series has been joked about for years, where people ask what the two guys that are chased down by Batman actually did that was wrong.
