I watched two seasons of Red vs Blue before realizing it was a horseshit and stopped watching and never had any interest in anything else they ever did. It was novel at the time, having characters act out a series in a cinematic dialogue perspective with the hud elements cropped out and they bobbed their heads up and down as they spoke.

Combination of things. Some of their best talent left for one reason or another, their work culture and relative lack of care of employees at times was criticized, and also the YouTube algorithm stopped being kind to them. And because YT is more convenient, and their player was notoriously bad, people didn't really want to use the site. The 'video a day or week early for FIRST' killed a lot of discussion / investment people had.They also gutted the forums. And their new hires were generally mediocre at best.

I get that part, it's kind of baked into the cake with the industry nowadays ever since Gamergate was a thing and a bunch of hyper-polarized folks got big jobs in the games industry, but it's just exhausting, like you said, going from being on a near-constant news binge, you pick something hobby-related to cool down, and oops, it's also a news binge that got co-opted by someone who wasn't even there to begin with and is now using it to propel their career and brand higher than before. Early seasons operated more on comedy logic and rule of cool than any common sense, and I feel this was always the intention to being with, to be closer in spirit to stuff like Asura's Wrath, TTGL, MGR etc. And I think it still could've been done, though I suppose you'd need someone who actually loves that shit to make it happen.

There is only 1 good RWBY episode and its like I think season 2 episode "Paint the Town" becasue it actually FELT like an anime it was just a simple episode of the girls investigating something, the male characters bumbling around like an actual mahou shoujo anime and then the episode ends with a big chase/fight scene.
