Iron sights were “garbage” because not a lot of people were cheating yet. So visibility with iron sights has always been low obviously but the game basically locks on to enemies for you either way with red name plates.
I’ve never noticed that I do better or worse with iron sights, it’s about the same as a red dot sight every time.

remember the MW2 single player remake from some years ago?
It had a multiplayer mode with everything from the original game recreated, it was pretty much ready to release and played just as well according to people who got to try it
but they never released it, by all likelihood because they feared losing players/money on the recent games
