The game always tells you that you can't turn down the difficulty mid playthrough if that's the case. Do you not read?

>can't turn it down later
A game not doing this is gay.
>>
Get fucked, tryhard.
>>
Why would you play on the highest difficulty on your first playthrough? Normal is always the intended way.
>>

For lots of games nowadays Normal is balanced around normalfag paraplegics that aren't even capable of strafing and shooting at the same time.
>>
>maximum difficulty
>single life
>no save loads

Normal has always been braindead easy. You literally have to try to get yourself killed in Doom playing on anything lower than Ultraviolence.

And yet somehow it manages to seem like it has gotten even worse, probably the general move towards making things more accessible while also doing things like locking away the meaningful difficulties behind game completions.

I actually started to really enjoy ironman mode for CRPGs because it makes your decisions actually matter, and every battle is high stakes.

At least playing vidya is inexpensive.

Difficulty locking in is a good thing. A game being deceptive about its difficulty curve so that you run into problems later, particularly in ways that are more than just numbers, is not good.

A clear example to me: Dark Messiah. Game starts out piss easy. When you get to the island it gets all retarded. The orcs have ludicrous stagger resistance on high difficulty and up to that point stagger has been THE WAY of fighting. Even the high-stagger advanced moves that you unlock with your skill points will move them back like one fucking inch. There's spike walls and shit all over and you just literally cannot use them. And then, after you clear out all the orcs, you drop into a tunnel and get a faceful of this hot garbage.

I have no idea what you're saying

i got really stymied doing this in the metro games when i'd have to do something use a key for the first time after two hours of playing.

I don't know if I'll like max difficulty or not. Does max difficulty mean I die on one hit, or does it mean my enemy dies in fifty?
>>
>>726780328
I replayed it recently. Couldn't tell if they didn't test higher difficulties or they didn't test pure class builds. Needless to say, playing as a pure mage on hard fucking sucked.
>>
>can turn difficulty down
>can't turn difficulty up
>>

Why the fuck would you play on any difficulty other than hardest available?

he means fun.
