>Got a new 4k HDR OLED
>Replaying A:MR with RenoDX + 4k
It looks fucking amazing, it's like the visuals were custom made to be played with HDR before HDR was a thing. Yeah sure the models and textures are dated but the art direction is just timeless.

Still prefer the first game since A:RM is bit of a slog gameplay-wise, especially the mindless combat and braindead 3 jump platforming. Wish they remade this game with the cut bossfights + finally let McGee make Alice Asylum.

>first game is fun and grimdark with vast arsenal, but never try to play on highest difficulty as enemies turn into enemy sponges and you'll run out of mana incredibly fast (which turns the game into Quick Save galore - in late game you're gonna use Pocket Watch on every goddamn level just to avoid as many fights as possible); also platforming is clunky
>second game is incredibly beautiful but suffers from insane amount of cut content (especially boss fights); I didn't mind the change in gameplay but half of levels were incredibly long and boring (basically I only enjoyed Queensland and Hatter's Domain), especially due to abnormal amount of "mini-games" in some chapters (specifically third and fifth ones)
Basically, play the first game on normal difficulty to have fun and play second game as much as you can tolerate until you can't, then maybe consider watching a playthrough just to enjoy the landscapes and aesthetics.

i thought the first game was still fun on hard mode, it didn't feel too unbalanced and just made it feel like you had to play a little smarter. i never tried playing nightmare though, not really sure how that would be because hard mode felt like it was already pushing the limits a bit.
