And slop art is inherently about constructing approximates with patterns.
We literally evolved to sus out the slop.
But also, an obvious marker for that instance is the cursive being way off for "Talk Show", notice the weird length between 'o' -> 'w'.

It lacks intentionality

Whenever a human goes through the effort of making something, they usually also have an inclination of "while I'm already doing it might as well do it well/convey something", a composition, an emotion, a scenario, a mood etc all of which require pushing the drawing in a certain direction

Since AI art lacks intention in details and is created by averaging weights, it by definition can't push in those directions that convey intention

We're not just talking about art. How do you tell if someone asked ChatGPT to help with their code? If the dev is honest about it and puts the disclaimer they'll get backlash. I find it extremely disturbing that you genuinely believe nobody can tell when an image is AI. That shocks and disturbs me. It caused such reflection in me that I had to speak with my wife about it, the terrifying knowledge that people like you exist and are not joking.

It's one thing to, on occasion, be fooled by robot-produced, low effort shit for a few moments, but to... To genuinely be unable to identify it based upon obvious tells and patterns, and to believe nobody else can do such a thing? This speaks of a terrifying lack of self and critical thinking, and it fills me with dread knowing that I drive on roads populated by people with such diminished faculties.

Terror is in the real and dreadful.

When you generate an AI image, you need to write a prompt (as far as I know anyways, I've never done it myself). That text prompt is writing, and writing is art. So technically, yes.

>>
>>727178824
you're going to break the chud contrarian /v/ brain with this one.
>>
>>727178959
In that respect, his comparison makes even more sense though. Because the prompt isn't the process of creating the art - it's only a guide for advanced pattern matching. Even if you're using more tools like inpainting and regional prompting, you're basically not doing the art yourself, but enabling something else to.
Sorta like how a reassignment surgeon doesn't provide the body and the dick to be sliced, but just does the slicing and the boob job to enable the body to work as another gender.
>>
I feel like I'm on /mu/ again when Vocaloids became popular.
>>
>>727179075
I mean I was being pedantic because I agree with his overall point of AI """artists""" not being actual artists.
The way I see art is pretty much if a human created it then it's art. Quality is irrelevant.
Writing the prompt is an art, inpainting is an art, doing surgery is an art etc

I thought I'd chime in with my own opinions as an artfag so I did some redlining.
Here's the thing, if this art isn't AI, then if nothing else, it's very, very sloppy (in its traditional definition of the word).

I think the reason people can just "tell" is because AI stuff has a ton of strange, tiny imperfections. Imperfections are typically fine, a messy line here, a slip of color there, whatever, that's normal. The problem with AI is that it fucks up in ways that don't look natural. Even someone bad at drawing hands would at least attempt to get McFly's hand on his hat looking "natural", either they'd show the hand clearly and place it with confidence, or hide it entirely, but in a way where I can envision where his hand goes, but here the AI "made" the hand but put it in a position that I can't make sense of which sets off a sort of trigger in me I can't define.
I think that trigger is why I can tell it's AI, its uncanny valley in a more subtle way, when I look at an unremarkable piece of art and go "huh..?" I feel my inner AI detector buzzing. I can't articulate it well but I think that's the vibe people are feeling.

That's what you care about and not that Season 7 Battle Royale is an utter catastrophe?

The Battle Bus is gone and now people have to deploy in tight clusters along the outer circumference of the Island. Matches are lasting mere seconds for a lot of people because people are landing in groups where the first person get a gun butchers the unarmed, defenseless players nearby.

They disabled other game modes so that people couldn't go play those out of dissatisfaction with the awful Battle Royale.

The chest count on the island has been cut down to less than half and there is an overabundance of Shockwave Grenades.

Many of the new guns are overpowered and have zero recoil and ridiculously fast projectile speed.

The new sword is a fucking pathetic and using it gets you killed as you get frozen in place and/or your opponent gets knocked back 50 feet so they can shoot at you and you can't melee them anymore. Using this sword is almost a death sentence.

The Battle Pass is utter ass with only one or two interesting characters in it.

The problem with AI is that it devalues the product in the minds of consumers.
For example, if the tool that the Fortnite guys are using to create stickers is the same one that I can use now, for free, to create stickers myself, then those stickers have no value beyond the pixels that represent them.
Now look, for example, at pic related, which shows sprites of some of the characters from the latest A-Train. The author is a well-known Japanese artist whose style people like and which has been used in other Japanese games such as Etrian Odyssey. These sprites, hand-drawn by an artist, carry a value beyond the pixels that compose them. They have social significance; they were created in a unique way by a unique author. This adds value to the product, which is why it is so common for companies to hire artists that the public admires.
When companies are using the same tool as your 8-year-old cousin to automatically generate content, you can bet with some certainty that they don't care and just want to mass-produce products without giving it much thought.
>>
>>727188598
I don't see the correlation. Photoshop has had AI since like 2010.
Why would AI be relevant in 2025?
>>
>>727188770
Well, to me it seems relevant, because it's the talk of the town, and most devs are starting to use it in a new way, which may affect the quality of some products until they actually figure out how to use it properly.
>>
Personally I think shit like this isn't art to begin with, so it's totally replaceable by AI art. Same with drawfag threads, webcomics, and deviantart. You aren't artists to begin with therefore AI can replace it
>>
>>727189074
Isn't that reductive? Everyone has to start somewhere.
>>
>>727188741
>carry a value beyond the pixels that compose them.
Do they? Its just generic anime garbage to me. Zero social significance, and could just as easily have been made by AI. It doesn't add any value to the game, in fact, its detrimental to it. The game is bad and no amount of gay ass cute drawings is gonna change that. I don't care and has never cared about some cuck artist's intentions. I only care about the gameplay aspect of videoames, everything else can be and should be outsourced.
Also that artist already have a LORA, his work as already been copied and outsourced to AI.
>>
>>727189129
Reductive? I don't know. Sure maybe if you graduate from deviantart to something real. Until then all this online trash is replaceable. I don't think the hazbin hotel style is art either for example, and without being a youtube show it wouldn't have passed thr vartoo network days without serious refinement. Ai could produce what it does easily. But there is no doubt a diehard fanbase who wanna rip my eyes out for saying that.

Your view makes no sense whatsoever. What defines an artist is the ability to create art. Whether the artist is good or bad is another matter.
The point is that art carries certain characteristics of the author, so there is a social component to the process. This component is lost when art is made automatically by an algorithm.
In other words, it makes sense for you to go to a writer's lecture to understand more about his mind when he wrote his latest book. It doesn't make sense to do the same if the author generated the book using AI.
The first case has a social component, the second does not. The first case has social significance, the second does not. The first case will move people, the second case will not. And this is INDEPENDENT OF QUALITY. The AI-generated book may be objectively better than the author's, but it still won't have that social component that is important in people's minds. After all, art is not only about the product itself, but also about the artist, what they think, what they feel, what they do.

>>727189202
That's because you're the average consumer, but that doesn't matter much.
Authors can do something without any thought, something that is just a product for quick and easy consumption, and still be successful. This happens all the time, especially with products for the masses.
But if producers aren't just pushing junk because they have the right contacts, or the perfect marketing team, or are already recognized by simple minds like yours, then they'll want to at least add some extra value to their product.
But look, I'm talking on a higher level here. It's not for you to understand, it's for people who depend on simple-minded people like you to make money in the long run.

Do you think Ed Boon personally phonecalled the creator of the random bronze dragon statue his intern got from some thriftstore? Do you think Todd Howard sent a permission letter to the stonecutter of some random building in DC? Therefore: both are art theft. Both companies used assets created by an individual, and the individuals were not compensated. If AI art is bad, then "go take a photo of thing" is also bad.

I think the really suspect thing is the upper lip of the tomato guy. I didn't notice before this comparison but the area above the teeth is black/grey? AI would add a lip in there because what it interprets the reference image as having an upper lip that is in shadow underneath the moustache, because that's what 99% of characters would have there except for specifically this tomato guy.

Humans can recognize patterns. It's one of our strong points!

So when a new model comes out it's like
>"wow that's cool art, never seen something like that b4"
Then some person with high recog or esoteric knowledge will say
>bro that's AI
>"fuck it's getting good"
Then everyone cognizant of this exchange recognizes the new style and shares knowledge about it. The styles/images AI put out are almost like what humans make but not quite, there are some unique aspects to it that out it as AI, although most of the time(at least these days) they are not good or bad --- just different. Then this repeats.

Most other responses to your post is wrong because humans also make art that lack intentionality or composition or are shaded well or whatever else. People will say human art is made by AI art too, that happens a lot in these days of witch hunting. Pic very related, they will never recover from this.

It's a joke about a certain kind of person that nitpicks. Which is what tens of millions of people are doing when it comes to AI art these days.

One of the prompts was 'close-up'
>>
It all comes down to intention.
You can use your tools to make something beautiful or cave in someone's skull. You can use AIs to compensate lack of skill to make things you otherwise cannot hope to make, or you can use it to cut every corner, make slop, and fleece customers. In both cases, AI is a tool. The real question is how the human using it intends to use it.
>>
>>727201906

skilled prompters and people who make their own models are coming along and developing quite good skill at ai art generation. such people are a legitimate profession and im glad to think their skill will be valued by society.
Its the absolute slop that anyone could produce in 30 minutes of tinkering on sora that is the problem.

I know its coming along because in the last few months ive stopped explicitly filtering out ai on rule34 and ive even looked at certain generators, who seem to have surely done a lot of work tweaking things to get their character designs consistent and tweaked for their liking.

Right now on /trash/ there are probably anons who should be getting hired on by big companies for their ai expertise. Just like how the porn animators are way better than actual video game cutscene animators the industry really needs to look at porn artists for their talent.

>At the end of the day it has the same energy as this, and also it doesn't matter how the art was made
It kinda does matter, rajesh. AI generating art is pointless. Art is a form of human expression. It's not being made for our survival, (like hunting for food for example) it was made to culturally resonate with our collective human experience(for example, Its say there is tyranny in a country. People would come up with art that depicts a hero coming for their rescue. That kind of art resonates so much with those people, that eventually they become the hero and overthrow their tyrant).
In a nutshell, having AI doing art holds no real human truth behind it (because if you take this as human truth, then you paint a very sad picture about the current state of our collective consciousness). People can subconsciously detect this dishonesty behind a proompter's AI art, and be dismissive about it.
There is also the fact that AI has started off on the wrong foot; people use AI to either scam, misinform, or to skip the required skills needed to make half assed internet content purely for profit, which leads to the enshitification of the internet and culture in general. Lots of people are cautious about AI, because AI is being used nefariously, havent seen a good AI powered project irl yet, and because AI will be the death of our critical thinking.
Of course, it would take a thinking human to understand this concept; something you shitbrown npc golems are not.

>style/colors
obvious at a glance because many of these shitty generators churn out shit that all uses the same one style
>lack of motion
objects that should be moving or are having some force applied to them are flat or immobile
>lack of perspective
same as above. objects that should have perspective are flat
>multiple/inconsistent light source
light rays/shadows where they wouldn't naturally occur
>asymmetry
objects that should be symmetrical aren't and/or have different parts
>texture warping/melding/aberration
object edges warp in unnatural directions - OP image has bricks that bend in every direction
>inconsistent sizing/illogical placement
artists are human and have methods/ticks while drawing so everything is deliberate - aishit is random

I could go on. For the tomato cunt the clothes are the most obvious giveaway. The left shoulder is missing.
Regardless, death aijeets and undisclosed aishit usage.

>erm, why isn't the pinky in the mug???
this is a complete self report. no grown man can fit their entire hand into a regular sized mug.

There is no most used compositions and AI is more unique than people are here since it's not a person and knows more than any person.
>AI can't think for itself
That's a moot point but it is a tool that you can control

Depends on the dataset or at least the way it builds together a piece.
>AI is more unique than people are here since it's not a person and knows more than any person.
Can you translate through a chatbot what you're trying to say?
>That's a moot point but it is a tool that you can control

You use free tools or run a local model through your hardware with commercial GPUs.
Epic does the same thing, making billions of dollars in profits and selling their product.
That's the difference: Epic has the money to pay artists, but they prefer to use tools that do the work for them, and worse still, the tools aren't the best
