Why is it so uncommon for good middle-grade books to get proper video game adaptations? Picrel is the only good one.

>>727508582The vast majority don’t get enough attention for a developer to take the risk. It’s a pity, because something like Sabriel or the Edge Chronicles would make great games
>>727508582Honestly, the game is better than the book.
>>727508706You’re going to produce an autistic child trying to get enough kids to have a stable living situation and slowly lose control of your life over the following 40 years until you die and the authorities find out you had plans to torture and rape your kids with your wife that you didn’t follow through with.
>>727508964This isn’t really a reply to what you just said, but I felt like a tool for stopping after the second book as a kid, and I’m finding out now that that was actually an extremely common result of the average nerd-boy picking up the series at the time. Artemis Fowl tended to get a lot more play and I can certainly attest to having read every one of those cover to cover before I turned 13. Why is that?
>>727508978>lose control of your lifeHow did you know?
>>727508582Because back then you had capable devs who were passionate about their game and the material it's based on. It was the golden era of film and book vidya adaptions. Now devs are just brown NPC's who simply are ordered to follow a generic template. It's how asscreed got turned into a generic half assed "ARPG" where you can't even assassinate a target with your hidden blade because he's 2 levels higher or some shit.Look at the retarded clusterfuck that is the PoP Sands of Time remake.
>>727509109The first two are basically Dahl novels with a mystery plot. After that the Dahl style whimsy and over the top nature of the shit childhood very rapidly goes by the wayside
