The levels, to me, don't feel very well designed in terms of memorability and personality, more so in DKB than Odyssey. It felt like they got worse with DKB because every level is just meant to be destroyed rather than having a lot of thought put into them. I like Odyssey but I don't love it like previous 3D Mario games, but I straight up didn't have a good time with DKB.

Bananza really picked up for me in the last levels in the banandium core and new donk city. I feel like the whole game should have felt like that. After that end sequence in new donk city, I felt like the whole game shouldn't have had time limits on bananzas. It felt so good seamlessly switching between them for different tasks. Idk Bananza was pretty cool because there were so many different ways you could decide to complete each task. It can be as easy or as hard as you want. You don't have to upgrade your hearts.
