There's even an episode where Static is able to go back in time to save her, but he can't because even when he warns her to stay away from the Riot's, she can't help but go back to help people injured/trapped in the fires. Then the sequel came out after everything went full ACAB in the media, so the cops in that game don't help peter as much, and especially don't work with Miles. The writers in that game also forget that Mile's father is a cop and not an asshole.
