Why are these fucking things still so expensive?
>>
>>728384551
I was wondering that too. I'm thinking of getting one to play PS Now on PC
>>
>>728384551
They're the best of the best. Peak engineering.
>>
>>728386053
I mean, they are probably some of the only controllers on the market that don't fall apart after half a year of use, and DS4Windows gives you an huge number of extra functions you can't get with other controllers, but that isn't something the market should be smart enough to realize.
>>
>>728386053
The sticks are dogshit and the overall build feels very cheap
>>
>>728384551
Just get the steam controller 2 at this point.
It's hardly even worth buying PS4 controllers now because the new revision where the light is bleeding through the front of the touchpad because it's so distracting and annoying but they also use cheaper components in these than the Original release PS4 ones.
>>
>>728386053
Even Xbox 360 mogs this crap
>>
I bought one in 2018 and it still just werks
>>
>>728384551
Because they stopped making them? The Dualsense is better but you're probably better off waiting for the new Steam controller.
>>
>>728384551
I still use mine but the RB keeps double inputting so I want a replacement. Cant find anything good.
>>
>>728384551
Idk they suck ass
>Out of box with 4-8hr battery life
>Charge it every other day for a year
>Battery life is now 2-4hr
Why even bother making it wireless if the battery is so shit?
>>
>>728386053
The sticks start drifting after 5 seconds
>>
>>728384551
Consoles need to defer costs so that they can LARP as being inexpensive now that they're all generic x86 PCs with budget components.
>>728386053
It's shit and I'm saying that despite it being one of my most used controllers. The touchpad is in a worthless position, having two analog sticks is retarded and there are much better options for 2D games than using a dpad on a handheld controller.
All handheld controllers are garbage ultimately derived from the NES controller, which was only ever meant to be a cheapo ewaste pack-in for the NES.
It's still better than the Dualsense, but that's not saying much.
>>728386231
>2026
>>
>>728386231
>anon can't open it up and tape the light bleed out
>anon can't use the software needed to use it on pc to turn the led off
>anon is even too inept to use a piece of electrical tape on the outside
you do not deserve shit you piece of human garbage
>but muh components
buy and solder in hall effect sticks if you wanna, 5 bucks, 12 with a pinecil if you don't have one yet
>>
>>728387097
Just build your own fucking controller at that point
>>
>>728386053
it's actually surprisingly good at playing PC games. I managed to remap guild wars 2 controls to it back when I played that game. the touchpad would work as a trackpad which solved the times when moving the mouse cursor and clicking was necessary
>>
>>728387097
Why are you seething?
Nigger I love the original PS4 controller, the problems with the newer revisions are just completely real and I shouldn't have to fix it myself when these cost 40-60 bucks a pop.
Literally shut the fuck up faggot.

>>728386984
Yeah 2026 but probably pretty soon. I mean your only other real options are 8BitDo and Xbox controllers. Hopefully it's sooner rather than later though. I really do want the new Steam Controller since the Steam Deck is the best controller I've ever used.
>>
>>728384551
Cause darkers still play piss4
Buy 8bitdo pro 3 instead
>>
>>728387752
why build a whole new car if a civic is a good enough chassis and all you need to make it sing is a turbo k24 swap and some sticky tires?
>>
>>728388258
>8bitdo pro 3
you mean the pro 2. the pro 3 got rid of the replaceable battery and the ability to use AA batteries. the pro 3 doesn't offer any upgrades, it's literally a downgrade
>>
Got an 8Bitdo and never looked back. Holy shit they are so good.

>cheap
>PS5 size mixed with Xbox layout
>no drift
>quieter than any official PS or Xbox controller
>>
>>728384551
Get one and open it up. Still can't use hall effect or tmr tho lol
>>
>>728384551
It's the best controller, except for the trigger buttons which breaks way too easily.
>>
>>728384551
Because quality have a cost, and they'll work for a long time.
I've yet to need to replace mine in a decade.

>but can't use batteries in the year 2025 going on 2026
Ayo teacher! Anon gots a gameboy in his jansport!
>>
>>728389850
Sauce?
>>
My only problem with the DS4 is that micro-USB sucks and doesn't connect if the wire has little bit of pressure in the wrong direction
>>
>>728386230
DS4 and Dualsense are probably the only Sony controllers that feel particularly nice, and even then with the DS4 in particular I find the buttons and d-pad feel really small after a lot of time with 8bitdo Pro 2 and 8bitdo Pro 3
>>
>>728388504
>the pro 3 doesn't offer any upgrades
Vita dome-switch dpad, charging dock, 2.4ghz dongle and TMR joysticks for better battery life and stick accuracy
>>
>>728391348
Get a USB-C conversion daughterboard
https://www.amazon.com/chenyang-Connector-DualShock-JDS-040-Replacement/dp/B0F9VCL63M
Also get a file so you can hollow out the port a bit on the shell to fit USB-C
>>
>>728386984
>All handheld controllers are garbage ultimately derived from the NES controller, which was only ever meant to be a cheapo ewaste pack-in for the NES.
The fuck does this even mean? What are you supposed to use instead?
>>
>>728386053
The pad is fucking awful.
>>
>>728391694
>USB-C
take the problem the anon you're replying to described and multiply it by 1000x if you use USB-C
absolutely fucking garbage
>>
>>728384551
Because despite all your bitching you'll still pay for it. Welcome to late stage capitalism we warned you about this!
>>
>>728384551
Lost technology.
>>
>>728392153
USB-C is prone to getting dust caking into it but I don't have any wire sensitivity problems with it that are a cause of the port
Get a toothpick and dig the shit out of your USB-C ports
>>
>>728388258
The 8BitDo Pro 3 won't work on my PS5
>>
>>728386053
Peak design but not engineering. It lasts for about 5 years
>>
>>728391827
>Heavy ortholinear keyboards or just arcade controllers
>Flight sticks and throttles
>Racing wheels
>Mice
Handheld controllers are about optimizing the size of the console's packaging size, especially before they were all USB and the core assumption was that they would never be used for anything else. They have some use when the console is itself a handheld, but are otherwise overrated now.
>>
>>728393128
Steam controllers like the Steam Deck are ironically a good argument for traditional controllers existence

Autism simulators with super-specialized controllers suck for literally anything else, and hand-in-hand with this, having a bespoke device for every single game sucks

Enter the controller, an all-purpose device
>>
>>728384551
A fool and his money are easily parted. High IQ, high Y gamers choose the GameSir Tarantula Pro.
>>
>>728393128
What the fuck are you talking about?
Controllers infinitely superior for certain games and they are ALWAYS more comfortable, even when inferior in performance, because you play while laying and you can rest your hands holding the controller.
>>
>>728384551
You retards let it be known that PeeC players like them. What did you expect?
>>
the DS4 absolute mogs the fuck out of the massive piece of shit that is the DS3, i will personally crucify any retard that tries to defend the DS3 and its shitty triggers and unusable mushy L3/R3
>>
>>728394009
Early DS3 had hall effect and were ok. Later ones are shit however I agree,
>>
>>728384551
Because god hates you
>>
>>728394279
Only the early sixaxis only controllers had the hall effect sticks.

I've got one and one of the springs failed in the left analog stick so it drifts anyway lol
>>
>>728384551
Are playstation controllers at least new?
Pretty much 100% of the xbone controllers you buy are refurbs with button inconsistencies that show up in diagnostic software.

Grabbed a gamesir nova lite for £18 and it's flawless. I regret not buying two since the refurbs are probably hitting the stores around now.
>>
>>728394565
Sure, but that can happen to any controller.
>>
Thoughts on the PS5 controller?
>>
>>728394728
Over priced snoy garbage.
>>
>>728395140
What else do you recommend? My DS4 is dying and I was wondering if the PS5 version was a good choice.
>>
>>728386053
I've had so many of these fucks break down on me
