so is this actually THAT good? im not normally a survival horror type of fella
>>
>>728444846
It was the first Resident Evil designed for the wider audience that got filtered by the gameplay of the first 3 titles
>>
It's literally the only perfect AAA game.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RAdiaENHWh0
>>728444946
RE2 sold more than twice as many copies and is beyond easy.
>>
>>728444846
25 hours of play time and around 90% has pacing perfection
>>
>>728444846
Yes, it’s the closest we’ve gotten to a perfect video game imo. An absolute must play for anyone who plays games
>>
>>728444846
It's not survival horror but it is an excellent 3rd person action shooter. It slowly ramps up in campiness as it goes along too which makes it as fun to watch as it is to play.
>>
>>728444846
The level design and enemy encounter design is masterful imo. Couple that with satisfying shooter gameplay and it's a very fun game.
Also don't listen to fags who say it isn't scary or tense, they're desensitized.
>>
>>728444846
it's the game that killed videogames along with MGS
>>
>>728444946
That doesn't make any sense, it has the same control scheme as RE1-3 just with a different camera and manual aiming.
>>
>>728444846
Just to add, this is not a survival horror game, it’s an action game with horror elements. You’re not going to be spending a lot of time playing resourcefully because the game always gives you what you need (for the most part). If you want a survival horror experience, re1 (og and remake), re2 (og and remake), and re7 are the way to go
>>
Fuck this thread is making me want to replay re4 for the umpteenth time lmao. It just never gets old
>>
>>728444846
It's a carefully crafted experience, almost every room is a different set piece that keeps it fresh and fun for hours.
>>
>>728444846
It was a hate letter to classic RE fans that was only saved by resident evil 5
>>
>>728444846
It alright
>>
>>728444846
It's great
>>
>>728445213
It's the precision aiming and the melee attacks that gives it more of an arcade game feel, plus enemies dropping resources
>>
>>728445582
RE has had arcade and action roots since the beginning IMO. You go in and shoot up zombies and get scored for finishing in record times. The only difference is 4 gives you a lot more ammo because there's a lot more enemies.
>>
>>728445678
True but characters in the 3 ogs move slower, don't have an 8 directional aim and you have to go out of your way to have and gather enough resources to shoot. I truly think Leon is faster and more responsive in 4, a boss like og1 Yawn would get mogged by the shittiest player in 4.
I guess the closest to 4's feel would be dino crisis 2
>>
>>728444846
gunplay is absolutely horrendous and that's the only reason why I prefer the remake
>>
>>728446287
Gunplay is literally worse in the remake though

>>728446426
Shots have weak impact and Leon's aim animation isn't even pointing to where the crosshair is. Speaking of, laser > crosshair.
>>
>>728446505
Or you're just bad, have you considered that?
I had about 2 million on mercenaries with no issues regarding guns. I played that shit more than the main story mainly for guns. I'd take off the laser out of personal preference.
>Leon's aim animation isn't even pointing to where the crosshair is
check your video settings and if the screen is the same as your monitor's
>>
>>728446572
Nothing is wrong with me or my setup, I just notice things that you don't.
>>
>>728446738
Anything but admitting you're bad at the game. I'm done speaking to you. Retards such as yourself will preach and nitpick all about remake4 being bad simply because you're dogshit at it. Good thing nobody listens to you. Perhaps you were a valve game tester back in the day lmao.
>>
>>728444846
It's so fun. I played it for the third time a few years ago. So fun
>>
>>728445678
Cant forget RE4s beat-em-up influence.
Thats why it feels more brazenly arcady imo.
And why theres more enemies to use your bigger than average hitboxes on.
>>
>>728446817
My criticisms have nothing to do with difficulty, I don't know why you're flipping your shit over this.
>>
>>728444846
The Meta Quest VR version modded to original gameplay graphics is the definitive experience.
>>
>>728444846
Its action horror with a bit of survival horror.
The only "real" survival horror element you'll be feeling is the atmosphere in a few places.
The remake is way more of a survival horror compared to the original

The survival comes from purposely nerfed controls. It is not a regular TPS. You will feel restricted by the controls. But the learning curve is perfect. Once you get it you will blast these villagers and feel progress. Stick with the controls and play it with a controller. It's not a K&M game.
Also install the HD Project. It is a masterpiece of a remaster.

Are there any games that play exactly like this?
>>
>>728447523
Re5, re8, and the remake of course

Dead Space 1, the creator even said he wanted to do "RE4 in space". Great game.
>>
>>728447523
+ the evil within 1 and 2. They don’t play “exactly” like it but they take heavy inspiration
>>
>>728447523
>>728447562
There is also revelations an underrated gem.
>>
>>728444846
If you have to ask then it's wasted on you.
>>
>>728447682
Hell yeah that’s a good one too. The last of us is a big one too, can’t believe it slipped my mind
>>
>>728444946
RE was an immediate smash hit from the beginning and has always done well with mainstream audiences. RE1, 2 and 3 are all in the top 25 best selling PS1 games. the idea that classic RE is some sort of hardcore filter is revisionist history.
>>
>>728446426
He means he can't kneecap enemies with just one TMP bullet and print infinte kicks and suplexes and be generally untouchable.
>>
>>728447775
It’s just nonsense that people who think that re4 “ruined” resident evil spout.

Yes. Play the Wii version, if possible.

It's weird how much remake Ashley looks like SH2 remake Eva. Was it the same studio?

When these guys come up, restrain yourself from throwing the controller to the wall.
>>
>>728448601
They’re annoying but a well designed enemy. They give the game a much needed difficulty boost
>>
>>728444846
I'll just have to describe it with how the game operates: enter the sewers level and you're presented with a long hallway and wet flooring. narrow corridors but not claustrophobic, then you proceed and probably break a box or two and walk the single path corridor and notice something blurry then you see the water in the groud is reacting to something. This is your cue for the whole level experiecne that will be played straight and subverted and played straight again. Its use of environmental storytelling is fascinating. Peak game design.
>>
>>728448601
>Throw flash grenade
>Instant death
Waoow so hard
>>
>>728448817
this but at crows
>>
>>728444846
I like to give re4 the same praise as Yoshi's Island, where you've got an annoying brat crying in your ear for most of the game yet still somehow enjoy it.
>>
>>728447879
I feel like assisted mode exists solely for people such as him
>>
>>728447775
Hearing people bitch about tank controls then repeatedly get confused by the camera in RE1 Remake when they switch to modern controls is the funniest thing
>>
>>728446572
Dude's not wrong though, the shot is coming from the reticule instead of your weapon, there's a youtube video iirc that shows that you can shoot enemy with freecam mod. Also remake add unnecessary sway after every shot just to add more difficulty to the game
>>
>>728448929
You don‘t get Ashley around with you that often in RE4.
You find her by the end of the village, then she gets kidnapped halfway through the castle and then only a few sections of the island towards the end.
>>
>>728444846
I'm an RE1 OG since the PSX and I'm being dead serious when I say although OG4 is good, RE4R is the greatest action RE ever made.
>>
Shoot the birds OP.
>>728448702
It' s good but still I wanted to throw the controller.
>>
>>728444846
It's not a survivor horror
>>
>>728447682
It’s amazing how good that game looks on the 3DS.
Also Jill ass.
>>
>>728449961
For me, it's Jill (BSAA)'s ass in Lost in Nightmares/Mercenaries Reunion in RE5.
>>
>>728444846
This game has nothing to do with survival horror
>>
>>728446572
>shooting feels bad and the animations are wonky
>GIT GUD
Retard.
>>
>>728444846
yes.
Also the game the game is more tense than scary since a lot of the times you are more overhelmed by enemies than fear, aside from a couple of sections.
