What are you supposed to do, go down to the graphics store and buy yourself a competent artist and programmer who work well together?
I never understood the linear graphics mentality. Sure there are pre-made and a lot can be automated but it's not like it's made in a factory and so it is merely a matter of time and repetition of laid out foundation.

Every time a game is made, truly made and not just using a tool it is a mathematical endeavor.

DayZ player here.
Forests in games are already pretty terrifying.
Like 90% of the reason I play DayZ is the feeling when you hear a stick snap and your heart sinks.
Shit is taxing on hardware but its getting better slowly.
KCD2 prob has the nicest looking forest so far. Pity that Sons of the Forest was kind of shit.

As many different custom servers and maps as you could want.
There are PVE servers that focus on base building n shit, PVE servers where there's some challenging dungeons and puzzles, other PVE servers that just have gnarlier zombies and creatures.

Then everything back the other direction, Rearmed servers are basically PUBG.
Vanilla or Vanilla+ is the best though, DayZ is best when you're shitting yourself in terror over extremely quiet noises.
