>>728726878Because Starfield has a larger market among console players right now. Unlike the picky elitist PC/Steam secondaries, console players are the primary, slop consumer level players that actually buys the Game Pass subscriptions and/or paid mods. Steam numbers represents a small fraction of the amount of players Starfield has, not to mention it only shows concurrent players, so we don't have the actual full picture of how many players are actually booting the game up in a single day/week/month.

Why is it so boring? Even for Bethesda, the main plot and nothing characters are worse than nothing. For an adventure that is focused around mystery and conspiracy. Where is all of the intrigue? Where are the high stakes espionage missions? Essentially nothing happens outside of the one companion that gets jello puddied at home base or on the space station.

You now remember that you walk out of the mine, and Barret says you're the chosen one and gives you a ship and a robot within the first 30 minutes - post character creation. It's more egregious than giving your a minigun and power armor after the first 3 hours of Fallout 4
>>728737047The power armor reveal was great. You get an intro to the new armor system and a beater set to fix up while fusion cores are still scarce. Goodluck with that minigun after spending it's ammo in the first fight

>>728737772I didn't hate it either, but it was a 6/10 game with nothing really interesting going on besides shooting the same 3 enemy types in the same handful of literal copy-paste dungeons. After the first 15 hours, it felt like an aggressive waste of time.

Pirated the game a few months ago and enjoyed it, like any other bethesda game. Had to mod the UI and get performance mods to make it better though. Also most mods are out of date because nobody gives a shit about the game (most of my mods haven't been updated since September 2023) and just barely worked but whatever. However, I would not pay more than $15 for this game.
>>728744075 That's fair, but let's be real-no matter how decent the built-in character creator is, it still doesn't touch Bodyslide levels of degeneracy and custom tweaking. People don't just want sliders, they want to sculpt hentai-tier abominations with physics that'd make Newton cry. Until I can make a space bimbo with gravity-defying cheeks in four dimensions, it's not truly replacing the mod.
>>728723549This is very exciting, Starfield + Shattered Space + Watchtower + a couple of POI Creations already fixes most of the games problems. From what i hear, they mean to go seamless with both space and land exploration. Apparently Sean Murray has been consulting too.TOOOOOOOOOOD
>>728736991It's not that he wanted to. His company has been running on inertia since morrowind, and hemorrhaging good talent for indians and marxist kids from american dev schools in uni. Compound that with bethesda corporate culture and now microsoft and they finally ran out of gas.
>>728748893Watch as PS5 and Switch 2 gamers buy the game and realize that it's actually great and we'll see more people talk about Starfield.
>>728749110Bethesda hired too many right wing white chuds instead of diverse developers which is why their games are incredibly boring and white.
>>728749110Bethesda needs to fire all their ugly white nerds and replace them with indians and marxists and then we'll see their games be good again. Conservatives cannot make good games and bethesda games are the epitome of the uncreativeness you see from right wing conservative whites.

Whats the point of nitpick minor issues of starfield when the real issues are fundamental to the core game.Overall lack of point to a lot of systems. Going into space, flying into space, building ships to fly in space = all meaningless.Loading screens. >>728726878nigga have you even bothered to look at the Starfield modding scene? >>728750568Why dont you just click on the map and click on the planet and you'll be transported there without going through all that?
BGS really needs to lean into the ship-to-ship boarding feature because no other game does it as smoothly and intuitively as starfield. disabling an enemy ship, docking with it then clearing it room by room in zero-G is an experience you can only get in starfield. flesh it out, add fuel mechanics and financial incentives to hijack and steal ships, just go nuts with it
>>728741723That would have been pretty sick, power armor space suits would have made Starfield's aesthetics significantly less gay
>>728750440DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS ANON. Why are you lying? It's literally the same fucking slopfield with a cringy star wars makeover. Starfield will be the most talked about and beloved game of 2026. Mark my words.
>>728754480The cathedral thing is that because a cathedral is an absolutely massive collection of art out together to create something greater, while a parlor is a single piece?
>>728754480200 gb wabbajack mod you gotta click yes to download otherwise you'll have to pay for a nexus account. That's not free nigga.
>>728753887>>728753887Just looked at it the first time. No fucking comments, what fucking dogshit.
>>728753887Can you not just copy the .esp files or whatever? Gamebryo's one virtue was that the modding is really fucking simple. Last time I checked you could download large collections of paid mods in zip files with no issues.
Starfield engoodening begins now, they're going to have a Cyberpunk-tier comeback
>>728754553>>728754553Imagine being stupid enough to not buy lifetime premium a decade ago.
>>728754671>buy>premiumthen it's not $0.00 then dumbass
>>728754623yeah you can literally pirate paid mods without issues
>>728754623No, most mods aren't just a single file. This is why vortex by itself is just absolutely shits of Bethesda bullshit mod store. Let alone better mod manager tools.
>>728754705>>728754705Not paying for a mod dingus I'm paying for massive data pulls, API access to Nexus and the ability to download 200gb of mods with one click. All in all dividing my $50 I paid a decade ago by all the times I used wabbajack and used highspeed severs to download content....my most recent Skyrim modlist probably cost me a penny or two So yes a penny for a 200gb modlist versus shit gayass watch tower mod, from the epic game store of mod sites.
>>728754932Yeah that's a decent dollar value I'll give you that. The paid mods are a fucking joke, they don't mog shit especially when you compare by $.
>>728723549Where's my fucking Elder Scrolls, Bethesda?
>>728754735>>728754735Where from. What's funny I'm a senior dev, been working in tech since 2011 and in fang for a good portion of that. I'll pay bullshit amounts of money for all sorts of things But I will never, ever, pay a fucking penny for a mod
The thing I don't get about Bethesda is that their models and textures are mid and the engines are made and the plots are generic nowadays, what is holding them back from giving interns a wide berth and letting them pump out content? It's not hard to come up with an elder scrolls plot. Here I'll do it right now. There's a cult of Hircine worshippers who have infiltrated the Breton aristocracy. You need to root them out and there's werewolves. You need to work with a vampire. You go into hircines realm. Wood elves go crazy. It turns out you're the chosen one and killing the original werewolf saves the day.
>>728750329>>728750568He's not lying. This is also with no mods installed. Sorry for the shit quality though. If it's a brand new planet, you can get about 3 loading screens. For planets you've visited with landmarks you can go to, you only need 1.
I'm one of the rare people to enjoy this game somewhat, I think it's comfy to build a flying home and survey the planets and some of the side quests are okay too, at max difficulty and survival of course. The biggest and most glaring problem with this game are the POIs, there are hundreds of planets but if it spawns a cryo research lab for example it's always the same one, with exact same placement of items and enemies. It's completely unforgivable especially when you consider how many unique dungeons Morrowind and oblivion had, I can see normies immediately dropping this game when they see a repeated dungeon like this.
>>728723693Unlike you, not everybody wants every game to be a failure. Some of us actually like games :)
Here's to hoping they make it perform better. Not sure wtf is up with their engine make-up that makes the game barely hold 40fps on a 1070, despite not looking any better than Skyrim besides the poly count and texture resolution.
>>728733875>>728737874I think Bethesda's story/writing problems are incredibly exaggerated. Is the writing and story brilliant? No. Is it any worse than your run-of-the-mill video game or RPG? Controversial but I'm convinced not. I think people are confusing the animation and voice direction with the writing itself. Take something incredibly cringe-worthy like pic related. Now imagine it acted out by a talented actor such as Bryan Cranston or whomever. Suddenly it seems fine. Or consider if it was narrated in a text-based game.>I lunged to where he lay, gripping him by the shoulders "Sam.. Sam it's me..." Tears began to well in my eyes, "It's me, Sam..."Again, now it sounds totally fine. The lines are fine, but so much of how we interpret a scene is down to the delivery. And Bethesda insists on telling a melodrama despite budgeting almost nothing each scene so they come off incredibly stilted and uncanny. Really they gotta tell their writers to stop trying to write dramatic, emotional sequences because they're not gonna get the animation budget to make it land in the actual game.
>>728735579>Switch 2 portafter they somehow made Skyrim perform worse on it? Boy I can’t wait for 12fps at 640x480!
>>728755836But...what happened to the 50 loading screens?
>>728746970>I have to go now, my planet needs me.
>>728755836>For planets you've visited with landmarks you can go to, you only need 1.You don't even need to select a landmark at that point either. You could just select anywhere on that planet and it would take you straight there. If it's a new planet, the 3 loading screens you'd get are for your ship being in front of the planet, to land on the planet and then to immediately exit the ship (without needing to get up from the cockpit). Nowhere near as over exaggerated as people make it sound.
>>728735579>will be worth the wait(X) to doubt.
>>728736698>pour soul into game>game is soulless
>>728750141>Kinggath/WatchtowerLiterally fucking who? Buy an ad
>>728756874>You don't even need to select a landmark at that point either. You could just select anywhere on that planet and it would take you straight there.Apologies for the even shittier quality video to accompany this one.
>>728723549Unless they can fix the multiversesal nihilistic nature of the game I don't care.
>>728758260The only issue with that is it resetting all quest and exploration progress, I just started at Ng+10 to make the game harder because I'm not gonna do 9 runs of the same shit
>>728723693gotem
>>728758156the issue I have with that is the opposite problem, you skip all the random encounters between planets. although now that I think about it, this has been a problem for beth games since oblivion introduced fast travel. You do get encounters when you first enter a system I suppose.
>>728758156You're reminding me how much I fucking hated the Quest/Starchart menus in this game. So many clicks/menus.
