To be fair, I still hate digital slop. Lost its novelty for me after Reboot and Toy Story. I think it looks soulless but it's gotten slightly better over the years. I mainly tolerate it because deep down I know working a bunch of artists nearly to death for a 22 second sequence of absolute sakuga might be wrong

AI can't really create anything original, it can only use old things that have been created and altered to look cool.
But it's not as bad as the activists who work in the game industry, they just copy older stuff but make things lame and boring.

The difference is that 1/100 games is actually good because the intent and passion lines up correctly on the rare project that actually does have some originality. It's a consequence of our day and age where Content is king. Content doesn't challenge you, Content is easy to make, Content thus makes more money. The algorithmic slop machine is ultimately the final form of the constant pursuit of more Content, meant to numb the senses rather than stimulate them. All these retards think that as soon as these techbros get every license to steal art to generate Content that'll mean they can produce anything and everything for free, all the Content they can consume. But it'll be then that they increase prices and start fucking the people who were tonguepolishing their boots prior. It happened to streaming, it happened to social media, it happened to damn near everything online and this will be no exception. The bubble bursting is the best case scenario and I hope to god it does sooner rather than later

Tough crowd. Shitposting with vaguely related referential images is like 80% of what I do
>>
>>728734254
This image is poorly thought out. I feel like the film and AI are to some degree comparable, as a cheaper form of achieving a certain style they're meant to replicate, but starting with Paint and calling it slop seems to infer that it's replacing something, despite no other form of art doing that.
It's surface level, which is a perfect indication of most AI slop. No depth, no deeper thought into the forms, figures, and meaning. No reason for it to be the characters from Nichijou, no reference to their show aside from it being them, nothing. It shows a lack of care behind the message. That's why it's slop.
Maybe AI will someday get to the point where it can hit that deeper meaning. Until that point though, it'll still be slop.

Debates on creativity are usually retarded because neither side understands that a lot of creativity is unconscious. There is also a lot of confusion on who exactly is the creative one when using AI. Both sides are arguing whether it's the AI being creative or not. But it's really the AI that is the medium and it's the prompter that is in charge of being creative.
Could AI be used creatively with effort? Probably. But the technology is just inherently capable of allowing a flood of jeets to generate billions of 1girl solos, piss ghibli, and cats getting sucked into a tornado. It has a low skill floor PLUS you can shit out garbage at rapid speed instead of the time it would take to make even a shitty drawing.

The real problem with actual AI (LLMs are not this) is that it would completely obsolete humans without solving scarcity. The only people who would have a job would be government employees who are legally protected from losing their jobs, because the one thing that SHOULD be automated (taxes and license renewals) will be the only things not automated.

Even before we have 99% obsoletion of humanity things will get increasingly dire. New jobs are not being created on a massive scale. The job market has been consigned to oblivion, leaving ever more people unemployable. When robo-taxis become so widespread and plentiful that the largest employment sector, transportation, disappears, then people will notice that we've gone down a doom spiral that we can't hope to fix.

Actual AI should be preemptively banned until scarcity is solved. Basically, until we figure out FTL travel and have access to the bounty of the universe, we cannot afford AI.

Pac-Man and Donkey Kong ARE fun, though. I think the better question to ask in this hypothetical is, even if the AI makes fun gameplay, is it unique fun gameplay, or is it like that time someone scraped a ton of open-source Flappy Bird clones to make a Flappy Bird clone? If it's identical to an existing game or negligibly different from such, then there's no more reason to play it than playing a 2000s flash clone of Pacman if you have the ability to emulate the originals

I have a soft spot for level randomizers that procedurally generate new levels for platformers or shooter etc., but those can be made with much, much simpler tech than the resource hog that is LLMs anyway

Depends on what you consider art. There's lower budget projects like ballet, concerts, operas, art exhibitions, theatres, all over Europe, and obviously outside of it too. And lower budget films, and tv shows are made all over the world. In terms of vidya, I really only consider RPGs to be vidya with any sort of quality and effort put into it, and Europeans are the only ones making good RPGs, Japanese too I guess outside of the west. Every big western north american RPG company is absolutely dead, like Bethesda, BioWare, Obsidian, there's nothing being made. On the other hand you have Europe with Larian, CDPR, Sandfall, Owlcat, Warhorse, Spiders, etc. Really the only thing people can't compete with Americans in is high budget stuff like Hollywood, and generally marketing.

>>
>>728741886
how do you think the human brain creates? it doesn't just make random shit out of thin air either. it synthesizes stimulus and data, just like the AI does. there is an unimaginably vast amount of data out there, and an infinite number of ways to "mash it together". the roadblock isn't running out of data to use, it's just finding new ways to use it.
>>
>>728741606
The 20th century idea of the future was their present, where humans were flourishing and wealth was being generated exponentially faster, but with advanced tech like laser guns and flying cars. Even by the 1960s, futurists realized that automation would just make humans obsolete which is why Star Trek is a post-scarcity setting.
>>
>>728742094
No, it uses weights to guess what is appropriate in a given context. The human brain does the same, it's just that when the probability gets very high it doesn't seem probabilistic any more.

That's because the technological advancements of the 1880s - 1940s had been, on balance, extremely positive, miraculous, and sustained. Within quick succession you had refrigeration, radio, flight, advanced medicine (antibiotics, for example), air conditioning, the Internal Combustion Engine, the telephone, nitrogen fertilizer, television, and widespread improvements on old technologies. Everything was getting better, technologically, decade after decade, and it was creating new fields for people to work in.

The Bessemer Process and the Haber Process greatly boosted wealth generation which allowed Joe Blow to boost his standard of living immensely by doing nothing in particular. If you clocked in for your 9 to 5, Mondey - Friday, life was getting noticeably better for you. You could afford more and more, and just by doing your job you could raise a family of 5 while your wife stayed at home.

Everything started going downhill after that. By the 2010s, it was clear that the average job wasn't enough to even support the average person living on their own, let alone a whole family. The man of the 1950s had every reason to be optimistic, while the man of the 2020s has no reason to be optimistic. Our only hope of salvation is that someone discovers a breakthrough in Nuclear Fusion or FTL space travel. If else, everything is just going to get worse and worse until something breaks.

The one issue with all content being generated to the end user is that if everyone is playing completely different versions of something, being able to talk to others about shared experiences goes out the window. Humans really need the social aspect of media consumption.

Tech bros want to be artists the same way troons want to be women. In absolute the best case scenario you might fool most people but you'll never be the real thing, and you will be found out eventually. In the most likely scenario you will demand that society change its standards because you deserve to feel special even though you're pretending to be something that you're not.

Now try to explain why that means he is wrong to dislike animal cruelty. You can't because you don't really understand any of this.
>or did I will you to get upset?
Dummies who think they know more than they do aren't particularly upsetting, no.
>>
>>728757716
>Now try to explain why that means he is wrong to dislike animal cruelty. You can't because you don't really understand any of this
Easy he agreed with Max Stirner in that he saw secular morality as nothing more than a new religion. Which Nietzsche refers to as Western Buddhism.
Take for example the Genealogy of Morals, the third essay What is the Meaning of Aesthetic Ideals.
It specifically addresses the idea that freedom requires a freedom from truth.

>Dummies who think they know more than they do aren't particularly upsetting, no.
yet you think cruelty to animals is a thing when He doesn't even humanity has achieved Übermensch to know if animal cruelty is right or wrong.

You can lie to yourself but you cant lie to others.

People in the past well understood that pushing onwards with technology before the general public was ready for it was bad idea, that thinking has been lost to the utter greed of hyper capitalists who push half baked tech out no matter the consequences because it makes their vibe based stocks go crazy, humans never have been good at seeing ahead but we have become even more shortsighted than our ancestors were, AI will crash the market and we'll end up picking up the pieces, this type of decadent technology should only be pursued when we reach post scarcity not while the entire world is struggling

One thing that people never bring up and I have seen, even if it's just a glimpse, studying as I am a master's degree to be a teacher (yes I'm a deadbeat), is that everyone points how brain developement is slowing in young people, starting with the popularization of smartphones (not just vidya or video, or tv, which is "limited" and "self-contained", but virtually endless content pret-a-porter) and now with the rise of AI tools that make evrything you may want or need to do, effortlessly. Hell, education researchers say that since kids physically write, draw or play less and less, even their psycomotricity is developing way worse than previous generations. Also now the attention-span has lowered even more in teens, they say is around less than a minute, and social networks are perceived as another layer of reality, and not just as... something on the side, someentertainment or social tool, whatever you may call them, for the they are jewvertisement tools.

I really dislike AI although I do know it's a tool, and one that shouldn't just be discarded because it would be illogical at many levels, but despite my pettiness, because I like comics and I went to fine arts school, my geniune fear is, like most inventions, the retarded use people will make of it. I fear we may become the Wall-E humans, perhaps not in phisique, but just as mentally stunted, because our brain and body is designed to grow as we do stuff.

Altman isn't a fool, I think he has big plans for AI most normal midwit wouldn't imagine
>>
>>728765505
Then what the hell it is? I have used it a couple times and with the styate of search engines, it is at least a good tool for looking up stuff, and I somewhat like some LLMs ability to sum up very latge texts, although I don't trust it much.
By being a tool I don't mean it being inherently good or bad: an axe can cut down trees, doors to rescue people from a fire or split skulls.
And I'm aware the retards in the stock market and all corpos around the globe are cumming over AI and its a bubble that I don't really know how will end, if badly or worse.
But then again, if it's not a tool what is it?

many new things being made today are lazy and low effort, yes, the people who will adopt ai and actually be able to make money off it are the ones who are making that slop today. there is still plenty of high effort, high quality things being made by people with genuine passion and they will only become harder to find as ai slop floods the zone to the point nothing can be found except corporate slop (which also uses ai) with extensive marketing campaigns.
