I'm in my late 20s. I played competitive games as a teenager and early twenties but never took it seriously. Then stopped gaming in college. Now I have an abundance of free time. I've been getting back to those old games I used to play online and it's giving me something my life is lacking, excitement and engagement. I want to try to git gud and climb the ranks, but I feel like:a) if I wasn't good as a teen, when my reflexes and learning abilities were higher, I was never destined to be anything more than average b) video games are a waste of time, especially online video games that are full of bots, hackers, tryhards, and toxic people c) in old, it's lame to to be in the same mindset as a child grinding a video game, and I'm just rehashing familiar past times because I can't think of anything else to do
This reads like something you would post on reddit
