FromSoft had been around for 15 years when Demon's Souls came out and it's been 16 years since.

I watched that new video on Demon's souls recently and the company had been kind of well known in japan for a while before this game. I only knew bits and pieces about the development of this game but hearing more about it was pretty interesting

It was fucking interesting how it was supposed to be Oblivion made Japan.
And then turned into a weird ARPG that nobody knew how to play. Sony chef fucked around with it and just died. They thought it was some weird Musou that didn't work properly.

I only knew them as "that armored core" company. I never heard of King's Field. It wasn't until /v/ shoved DeS down my neck did I know they did other things. I loved DeS.

i stopped playing here, i think it's the worst level of any fromsoft game i've ever played

I played through this game 3 times and never once I found this dude, so I just kept listening to him scream in despair while I was going through the prison, during my first playthrough I thought this was just part of the background sound.

It's more like they peaked 80% into their catalogue. Demon's Souls put Fromsoft on the map, but before then they were churning out games left and right. Their output slowed down a lot after Dark Souls became a mega hit.

They're still releasing a game roughly every 2-3 year because gamers just give them a pass to reuse assets from like four generations ago.

His whole schtick is to be a place for you to lay down your summon sign so you could repeatedly be the Old Monk.
>>
>>728812007
Reusing assets used to be and should be the norm. Remaking assets for every game is just fucking retarded, it bloats budget, lengthens develoment time, and creates busywork for no benefit beyond maybe 5%. There's no need to recreate the wheel.

He probably liked it. Look at how zesty he is.
>>
>>728812239
Not to mention they do remake tons of assets anyway. All the returning weapons from Dark Souls have new models in Elden Ring and plenty of new animations. They carried over a couple cool animations from DS3 but the way /v/ goes on about it you'd think the entire game was copied 1:1.
