Metroid Prime 4 really botched the delivery, and so much just failed to land. How would you personally improve it, if they ever make a sequel?
>>
>>728810857
Easy person. Remove desert, remove bike, remove all npcs, add an extra dungeon
>>
>>728810932
If I may add to your post, I would add more shortcuts and interconnectivity. The desert really goes against metroid philosophy by not letting you find shorter paths around the world. You HAVE to do it every single time.
>>
Maybe ocean planet with islands.
>>
>>728811018
Thats what I meant by remove desert. Just have the dungeons interconnected
>>
Just redo the final act of the game, that's about it really. The mine dungeon sucked except for the boss. The mech part hunt AND the green energy hunt shouldn't have been mandatory. And Sylux NEEDED more fleshing out as a villian especially. I didn't mind the desert but they should have put more interesting reasons to explore it. I didn't mind the NPCs either but I would have liked to see more interesting interactions with them and less annoying radio banter with them.
>>
>>728810932
I didn't even mind the bike. It just lacked reason to exist. There were no puzzles that needed it solved, no challenges that could only be overcome with it. Just one upgrade and it's used one time in the lava pool.
It really felt as if they desperately looked for something new to put into Metroid and threw in the bike at last second. For that, it at least controlled well.
>>
>>728810857
the nortubel of metroid
>>
>>728810857
Take the development time and money that would go into it and make another 2D Metroid instead
It's literally that easy
>>
>>728811113
sounds boring. all they have to do is change the scenery for next game. desert is done, so maybe snowy place.
the formula is very nice now.
what it needs is make the guns boom and feel like guns. they are so lame feeling. another is improvements in general gameplayl. it's very archaic, movement is stiff, enemies are stiff. like modpack for prime 1. evolve it to modern standards.
those 2 things will improve the game huge lot. 1. make guns feel like guns.
2. make gameplay feel like modern game.
>>
>>728811741
I disagree with almost if not everything you said.
You see i want to go back, you want to change the formula. fuck you.
The gunplay isnt the appeal of prime games, the guns are fine. the movement is perfect for what the game wants to be, a first person exploration/adventure game with puzzles. You want it to be doom. I bet you want a sprint button too.
>>
>>728812008
Metroid always had a sprint button, since Super. It was called the speedbooster.
>>
>>728810857
Let's see in 20 years after 3D Metroid is again out of hiatus.

Let me grok that for you anon

It had a dedicated sprint button, actually there's a part in Super you can't clear without using it.

>>728810857
Just actually make a metroid and don't have a little bitch telling me "It's a good idea to revisit old areas you've been to once you gain a new ability!".
>>
>>728812648
You really calling boost ball a sprint equivalent? Comon now
>>
>>728810857
>how would you improve it?
Design it as an actual metroidvania, for one. Don't make the areas linear as shit. Remove GF troopers. Incorporate bigger levels into the main area with proper viola usage and cut the desert, have roads that interconnect the main areas instead.
>>
>>728812797
Yes, it's amazing for traveling fast. I use it all the time.
>>
I feel depression every time you get launched by the cannon and stays in the air for a hot minute when the next map is loading wtf is that just give me a fucking black screen theres more loading than game in this shit
>>
>>728812931
Love the boost ball too, but it's not like sprinting, you can't jump or even open doors quickly.
>>
>>728812989
Didn't the Prime Trilogy add the spring ball?
>>
>>728812989
You can jump, actually
>>
>>728813064
sounds gay
>>
>>728810857
Add more to Sylux's backstory
Have him be a mole within the Federation even BEFORE the cutscene or make him the Federation's lab rat as punishment for his failure
Don't be afraid to show the Federation in a negative light
Play more into him being actually smart when it comes to science considering he himself altered Metroids of all things
>>
Does Prime 4 have escort missions? Everyone keeps saying that the NPCs can't die and you don't have to escort them.
>>
Maybe Samus should just do porn
>>
>>728813217
There are escort missions
They can die
Literally the first thing journos did when they previewed the game was try and see if Samus can just ditch Mackenzie only to get a game over for letting him die
>>
>>728813064
But you can't double jump making it useless for fast traveling
>>
>>728813217
They only die if you are bad at videogames, like you really have to try for them to die.
>>
>>728813358
Myles can't die tho, I left him with the grievers and he just kept asking for help
>>
>>728810857
>get rid of NPCs
>get rid of empty HUB
>get rid of viola
>get rid of gimicks
>one tight, awesome location instead of Zelda dungeons
>add alien gore to ensure the M rating. fuck the chinks are their bloodphobia
>>
>>728810857
Fix the linear design and active fluff like the desert. Stop gate keeping some of the powerups and make some new shit instead of putting purple shit on your boots and pretending it's something different.

Don't change a thing about the shooting.
>>
>>728813602
If its trivial, then why even include it? It doesn't make sense.
>>
>>728813798
Dunno, I guess they died easier at some point like on 3 but that was dumb as fuck so it was good they made them tough.
>>
add Hunters/multiplayer mode so you can do something after you finish the boring ass 5 hour campaign
>>
Keep only Tokabi as the NPC, a guy that gives you rewards if you find him and does optional exposition dumps for worldbuilding
If they want a comms guy make it an AI that only talks if you tell it to talk for hints.
Add fast travel.
>>
>>728813135
>Play more into him being actually smart when it comes to science considering he himself altered Metroids of all things
I think they showed that a bit with him hijacking the healing pod in Chrono Tower, juicing up on energy, and proceeding to control all the robots/mechanisms around. The problem with Sylux is that we have to do a lot of the guesswork. I really like what his backstory paints him as with his greedy/spiteful motivations and how he works as a foil to Samus but I wish we outright saw that more instead of having to connect dots.
>>
>>728813921
This but with Armstrong, and VUE as a summon.
>>
>>728813915
>boring
It was fun as fuck, but yeah it should have had multiplayer, huge wasted opportunity.
>>
>>728814272
I couldn't see any of the fun.
>>
>>728813909
They should just remove the segments entirely. If they're not gonna be challenging, then they're just time wasting.

You know what game really did this well? Republic Commando. You had to babysit your squad, sure, but they were VERY handy. Could kill enemies easily, do objectives, even revive you if you died.

Just talking about it makes me want to do another playthrough on hard mode.
>>
>>728814581
I didn't make the game, and I liked that Samus has healing powers now.
>>
>>728811741
>sounds boring
that's literally how it is in the other 3 games
>>
>>728810857
more than 3 new upgrades would be nice
>>
>>728810857
All they had to do was fire everyone, hire a different team, and make a different game. They were almost there.
>>
>>728810857
You can't. MP4 is very close to just being a proper Metroid Prime in several ways, but the low scores don't reflect a failure to be like previous Prime games. it reflects a failure to be "modern enough" for gaming press and zoomers. This is the Skyward Sword moment for Metroid where its failings are so apparent to Nintendo that they will never make a proper 3D Metroid ever again, and the future will reinvent the franchise into something that's closer to everything else in the industry.

But it's okay. Personal Computing is being thrown out with the bathwater as we speak. By 2030 you can't buy your own hardware anymore, and without a capitalist market gaming will cease to exist. Even if there are some game companies left by 2030, they won't have the same trend-setting/chasing to follow as they have now. The industry basically won't exist anymore, and big developers and games with big budgets and unreasonable overtime and 7-year-productions won't be a thing anymore.

Gaming. Is ending.
>>
>>728810857
By not making one
>>
>>728810932
>dungeon
the fact that this word is getting casually thrown around goes to show how badly they botched the level design in this game. Metroid isn't supposed to have isolated dungeons, it's supposed to have one big seamless collection of interconnected areas. it's as if the only prime game they remember making is 3
>>
>>728819034
>seamless
All I remember is taking elevators but yeah it wouldn't have hurt having something like BotW or MKW
>>
>>728810857
I don't even know where to start with this game.
There are things about the three Prime games that seem like common sense "This should obviously be in a Prime game" basics, that they just didn't do.
I wouldn't know how to begin to answer this question.
