So I'm thinking about if it's possible to bring OoT concepts to open-air Zelda. Though I keep thinking about A Link to the Past. That said one idea is to make footwork change your swings again. I like vertical and horizontal slices with thrusts. You can have a system where you can parry blows based on how you swing. And all weapons can have slices and thrusts. For axes thrusts can grab shields. For spears a horizontal swing sweeps the ground.

Fine I'll post the most damning evidence of why an OoT remake is happening, since no one else will. Nintendo filed a bunch of patents with game mechanics that are insanely similar to OoT's mechanics. It mentions the prospect of having a "partner-like creature" that can give dialogue when Z-targeting an enemy or object, which is obviously Navi. Some of the patent artwork is 100% based on actual places from OoT. Pic related is blatantly from the Forest Temple. The patent number is US012440765B2 whoever wants to read it.

The voice acting only makes it closer to just about everything else in the media. They should do gibberish language. Its a lot cheaper and serves the atmosphere.
