Pretty great implementation. Not quite Undertale 2 tier but up there as one of the best fishing minigames.They did make the grind a lot easier with the surgery table and other easier ways to get books/skill fruits, you can just slap musclehead + ferocious and a few others onto anything. Last time I played I took a traitless Chillet and made it into this.

A lot of pals have bad animations and movepools. You can breed down or skill fruit several of the good skills (double blizzard spike and holy burst for example), but the real top tier pals have unique skills - shadowbeak, celesdir, xenolord, etc. Also several elements just have dogshit movepools regardless so STAB is out of the question. You're better off running holy burst/air blade on any ground pal, for instance, even if you'd have type advantage. Hopefully 1.0 rebalances a lot of the older skills instead of just powercreeping the top end.
