For one, valuations to earnings ratios are much lower than peak dotcom, even for Microsoft which is a player in both. You got OpenAI, Microsoft, Anthropic, Google, Meta, xAI, and the chinks taking the lion's share of valuations now. >>728875632Investor confidence in AI is going to crater when OpenAI goes bust, bailout or not. They started the shovel rush, and if they're hoisted by their own petard, the investor class is going to get yippy no matter what. And if that happens, they're going to start asking questions they've been deferring for the last few years. And the tech industry will NOT have good answers for those questions, just more promises and pipe dreams. The fundamental problem with the tech industry has been fomenting for the last 40 years. Their business models, up to this point, have been built on the notion that the next thing will be so much better that the old thing will be totally obsolete. That people will miss out or totally lose functionality if they don't upgrade to the new hardware, or to the new Windows, or the new Microsoft Office, or Adobe Creative Suite. But what happens when Office 2007 does absolutely everything most people need? What happens when no one wants to upgrade to Windows 11? What happens when new people get into art as a hobby using someone else's software ecosystem because they can't pirate Creative Suite anymore? They know there isn't much room left to actually improve the things everyone uses. So everything has to be a cloud based subscription service slammed full of a million repetitive ads they charge pennies for. And they can't sell you a subscription to the same product you could buy outright a year ago. It needs a big "value add" that can't be handled locally on most people's computers. Cloud based AI models. But no one actually wants them. People aren't willing to pay $20/month forever to cheat their schoolwork, generate low effort shitposts based on copyrighted characters, and have access to endless shitty porn. And no one wants to watch movies or TV made by AI, and AI vibe coding is breaking shit left and right. There's a news story every week about it. It has no place, and it costs way too much to survive as a novelty service.

In your argument you seem to throw everything in but the kids Nsync, and even though you are having a feel day with this I am here to bring you back into reality. I have a sick sense when it comes to these types of things. It is almost spooky, because I cannot turn a blonde eye to these glaring flaws in your rhetoric. I have zero taller ants when it comes to people spouting out hate in the name of moral righteousness. You just need to remember what comes around is all around, and when supply and command fails you will be the first to go. Make my words, when you get down to brass stacks it doesn't take rocket appliances to get two birds stoned at once. It's clear who makes the pants in this relationship, and sometimes you just have to swallow your prize and accept the facts. You might have to come to this conclusion through denial and error but I swear on my mother's mating name that when you put the petal to the medal you will pass with flying carpets like it’s a peach of cake.

>>728875632OpenAI is spending $400 billion and bringing in only $60 billion, and the other AI companies are not in better positions. The only company actually making a profit is Nvidia, while every AI company is funded off debt they just keep passing to each other in a giant circle jerk to inflate their stock valuation. Only 15% of companies saw any profit increase at all from using AI, and only 5% of executives even see any widespread value in it. Now 25% of companies are planning to delay any AI adoption. A railroad company invested heavily in AI, and it could not even accurately summarize a 100 page safety manual without hallucinating. Verizon is now going to replace all the AI they replaced humans with and replace the AI with humans. Nearly $1 trillion dollars from the insurance companies is tied up in AI investment. AI will be lucky if it lasts 3 years, and everyone would be smart to hope it doesn't. The debt is going to come due, and they have no way to pay it. Right now they are trying to brute force advancement but 1) there is not enough power grid to do that and won't be for the next 5 years minimum, 2) LLMs are not going to produce the AGI, because LLMs aren't actually true AI and are, in fact, dumber than the average Indian.

But they aren't, because they don't want to be left holding the bag in a world where the demand for PC components is back to normal. They know this won't last. They're just trying to make the numbers go up in the short term by shuffling the same money around until the music stops and someone's left without a seat.OpenAI intentionally bought up 40% of the RAM wafer supply for the next 4 years just to artificially raise the price to stave off competitors. There's no other reason, they can't do shit with it themselves. Their entire purpose was to constrain the supply accessible to their competitors. OpenAI is on the way down because they've been overpromising from day one. Deep Learning cannot result in generalized artificial intelligence, and even if it could, the amount of hardware and electricity to achieve it would make it impossible to turn a profit on because of the logarithmic scaling property of neural networks. The only way they could make it work is if they could resume Moore's Law like improvement in semiconductor performance for an extended period of time. And that's not happening. The etched features physically can't get any smaller.

>>728901023this is bait.but for the readers, getting rid of people willing to work garbage jobs for garbage pay for the privilege of living in a shack with 12 other people is good for everyone (except those getting deported, and the people who hired them)otherwise it's just a race to the bottom, dropping wages, working conditions, and living conditions for everyone to maximize profit. It's kinda weird how the same people who constantly bitch about capitalism seem willingly blind to what happens when capitalism imports a shitload of cheap disposable labor
>>728901023>>728901245Are you guys aware that america already makes ram? This shortage has nothing to do with domestic supply, it's because of openai buying up 40% of all ram production in the world.
Am I the only one not giving a fuck?I can't run Stellar Blade on my PC so at this point I am more focused on my PC being the anime machine with terabytes of anime
>>728901396I hope Sam Altman kills himself when the fucking market crashes
>>728901245>It's kinda weird how the same people who constantly bitch about capitalism seem willingly blind to what happens when capitalism imports a shitload of cheap disposable laborIf I had a time machine I would print this comment out show this to the plantation slave owners in pre-civil war America, oh man they'd have a ball. >You mean they got rid of them and paid them too while they were there??? Shit son, we caught and imported them for free!
>>728875632I have a 3070 and it's pretty good
>>728901245I actually do agree with this but it's cooked when the guys voted in to do that turned out to be frauds (big surprise) are shown to turn down the heat when their donors complain so they decide to not actually press on farms/hotels depending on their mood that day. If ANY administration was serious about this shit then anybody caught with illegal labor would be fined then arrested.
>>728902486I agree. Deport the illegals, and imprison the people who hired them and took advantage of them. Unfortunately, neither party will ever do this.
I built my pc in 2021 when GPU prices went full retard so I can deal with this to an extent.
sometimes, brands just dieI guess you'll have to use something other than a 600 watt brick now
>>728898490What are you fucking talking about?
>>728875632When will we get to the point where games are so poorly optimized that no one can run any new games?Devs won't be hold accountable for their shit optimization. They just blame it on you for not having the latest graphics card that just came out a month ago.
>>728905138I think they do this because they're likely under some agreement to not discuss the problems that Unreal Engine has or Timmy TimTim will sue the fuck out of them.
>>728905138Ever heard of Crysis? Literally only 0.5% of people's computers could run it then.Even today, many computers struggle with it. The devs assumed that CPUs would keep getting better, but they capped out soon after. That's why modern computers have like 16 CPUs running at the same time, but Crysis can only use one of them.
>>728881448>t. spineless lazy man with no career drive
>>728905526Who cares about career? I just want to have enough money that I don't have to worry about money. I have that, and I'm happy. Now I can focus on more important things.
>>728888023Good Post anon, though I'll add that the only way to recover the massive losses from the current program will be to essentially force a client model on the greater population. They don't want you to own any sort of decent computational equipment in your own home when they've just spent trillions spinning up data centres. The goal is the de-democratisation of technology, where we all have to take out a life debt to be allowed into a walled garden that's required to simply function in modern society.
>>728897567I need cuda because all the faggots who make productivity software can't into open standards.
>>728880602Then why are they trying to find out?
>>728897567>Bitch, you're not going to use AI.. I know, I knowBut I do. I'm gonna jerk-it to AI in just a moment.
The most powerful machine I have is a Steam Deck
>>728907207here's a trick>buy a top machine from Amazon>apply for their credit card to pay for it>throw the credit card away and never use it>keep the machinestop playing by banker rules.
>>728907838Won't that ruin my credit?
>>728907870yeahbut that's not really a problem when you just buy things instead of borrowing them and paying interest
>>728907870Yes but you have your computer so its all good
>>728907870if you're young, that's the time to fuck around. credit "mistakes" get erased after 7 years. So if you're under 23, you can do stupid shit and still have good credit at 30
thats ok theres no games coming out in the next 2 years
1060 and a ryzen 5700
>>728875632>For at least 3 more years.80 dollar game price hikes lasted less than 6 months. Companies are starting to realize that people don't have the money to spend anymore.
>>728875632>stuck with 4090so did I win?
>>728875769Welcome to the New Normal bros.
>>728906030When the AI bubble pops and there's a huge surplus of unsold - and nearly unsellable - silicon, the market incentives of the manufacturers and service oriented businesses will diverge. The manufacturers will have to offload all that hardware by repurposing it and pushing it along to the consumer market. Likely at a very low profit margin, as an inevitable pivot back to a consumer and enterprise focused model. The service side won't have the same marketing bluster to work with either. They won't be able to get you to buy shit just by slapping the term AI on it anymore. They'll still have to count on cloud-based services, but I wouldn't be surprised if they just go back to selling it on the promise of convenience rather than sheer capability. In the end, the only real uses for Machine Learning will be as diagnostic, interpolation and visual style transfer tools. LLMs can't write or reason like humans, and will never be reliable for anything of practical use, there's no way to prevent them from "hallucinating." They're a dead end.Top of the line image models are too resource intensive and still incapable of producing human-level art with high directability, the best you could hope for is decent image to image generation using sketches as a basis, which would still need to be inpainted multiple times and finally retouched by an actual artist anyway. Which is another workflow that doesn't really work well with the cloud business model. It sucks to waste your prompt allowance on trying to get a seed that actually gives you something you want, so that's going to end up either being abandoned or handled by local models entirely. There's a very good chance we'll see 50 or even 60 series cards, TPUs, and huge quantities of RAM being liquidated for cheap at some point in the next two or three years. If you can hold out that long, we'll be better off than ever.
>>728908250>Companies are starting to realize that people don't have the money to spend anymore. How fucking retarded must they have been to even try pulling that shit in the first place. We're in a fucking recession
>buy 2024 parts for a pc last year>gift it to my little brother>I'm stuck with a 2018 tier rig that I never felt like upgradingI will scam my insurer if I ever have my place on fire and pretend I didn't gift the 2024 computer to my brother.
>>728908094Most people who do stupid shit at 20 are still doing stupid shit at 30.Its the rare breed that has the self control to destroy their credit on purpose at 20 and have the wherewithal to fix it at 30
>>728908662>having to sift through Altman's sloppy seconds because the bubble burst but he still got a government bailout while the rest of the country goes full Great Depression 2.0Pathetic
>>728909002Funny how we make fun of China for their ridiculous Social Credit when we already have the same thing but worse, ours measures how good you are at being in debt and being a good boy for the bankers
>>728909084>Funny how we make fun of China for their ridiculous Social Credit when we already have the same thing but worse, ours measures how good you are at being in debt and being a good boy for the bankersYeah but you aren't supposed to put it like that because it's considered a special term in the eyes of some individuals. The sort who were chosen to lead the way by a foreign god 2000 years ago. Mix of high treason and heresy without the appropriate punishments to account for their severity.
