How do we know they had feathersWe can't tell any structure outside of bones even existed like cartilage and stuff, I thought?

>>728883626>from ugly walking ballsack to cute landbirdI see an improvement
>>728884924non-bony elements in fossils have been found for ages and recognized ever since paleontology became a real thing, else we wouldn't have found all those soft invertebrates (which are mostly "impressions" in the rock though)they do tend to be really rare but a lot of dinosaur skin impressions, integument (feathers included) and internal organs have been found on the regularsee: scipionix, sciurimimus, mummified hadrosaur
I think you can have accurate dinosaurs but Jurassic Park should be left alone for the sake of style preservation. It was never meant to be accurate in the first place. Don't know why so many retards want to change that.
>>728885067>scientific ACKuracy that'll be outdated by next monthYet I've been hearing all this whining about feathers for about 20 years now. When are the scientists going to change their mind on that?
>>728884680i asked how it's less cool, not how it's less scarybirds are pretty cool guys tooin fact i'd take a falcon or something over a lizard any day and if you disagree that's fine but obviously you aren't going to say "i prefer geckos to owls because of my primal fear of geckos"
>>728883626I do not understand why do we believe that dinosaurs existed but dragons didn't? Like why every culture in the world have their own depictions of dragons if it didn't exist? >>728884726It's because it is different than how it was when they were kids.
>Erm...feathers don't fit (((Spielberg's))) vision
reptiles are just cooler than birdsfor some reason someone is trying to make dinosaurs gay and lame, and feathers are part of the plan. The gayest thing I've seen was dinosaur mating dances with dinos moving their tiny colored arms like retards, someone must have the webm
>>728885559church destroyed the dragon fossils so now we have no examples and people assume they are fake
>>728885470They have actually, but featherfags don't like to accept that for some reason
>>728885281because for some reason jurassic world is really really hated by the whole scientifically-oriented dinosaur communityoh who am i kidding, it's autism as usual; these people just can't stand that the most popular dinosaur media ever, basically synonym with dinosaurs as a whole, doesn't give two fucks about scientific accuracy and animal-like behaviors and they really can't wrap their minds over the fact someone would rather see a t-rex maul people and shit to death than it doing whatever the fuck those autists want it to do. it's just yet another facet of Great Autismo. and the funny thing, most of the attempts those guys do at making accurate media get completely ignored because, surprise, their view of dinosaurs being boring animals is boring.I fucking hate autistic people so goddamn much
>>728883626>Dinosaurs were found to be living in the northern hemisphere, where it was cold>keratin scales are supposed to allow that somehowyou scalies are retarded.
>>728885509I can turn that right around on you and say you aren't gonna say "I prefer robins to komodo dragons because of my primal fear of robins"Which is an intentionally snide distortion of what I was saying just to prop up your point. Weak argument.
>>728885585They don't actually. Didn't fit Crichton's either.
>>728885723something being scarier doesn't automatically make it cooler you autistic nigger
>>728885667feathering aside, they could've have fat deposits to mitigate the cold, and despite not being actually confirmed, it's a leading reasoning behind the theory that dinosaurs ere hot-blooded (or at least had alternate homeo-heterothermy)on the other hand, there seems to be lending that even in the late cretaceous the earth kept being hot enought to have minimal, if at all boreal/polar biomes
>>728885657Exactly. I just want my movie franchise to be thrilling and fun in the way that popularized it in the first place but now you have too many paleofags trying to "fix" it now that Michael Crichton's dead as some sort of revenge.
>>728885559>he doesn't know
if fish can live in cold water why do dinosaurs need feathers for cold airexplain that one creationists
>>728885958Right back at you again.Slapping feathers on something doesn't automatically make it cooler. Shitting your diaper about it like you fags always do wont make people think they're cool, either.
>>728885667Both scales and feathers are correct because dinosaurs ruled earth for over 100 MILLION years and they lived everywhere in many different biomes so evolution went in different directions. There is evidence for both.
>>728884680i think that's only because not many big birds exist that are violent and aggressive.
>>728885667Right Because the Earth doesn't change at all during the millions of years the dinosaur eras span. >Ah yes, we found T. rex skulls in Alaska, this means they must've lived in FUCKING IGLOOS!
>>728885559dragons are dinosaurs and dinosaurs are dragons
>>728886324you are genuinely autistic
>>728886134it's not like jurassic park isn't in a shit state right now, with hybrid dinosaurs being all over the place because making good stories with the existing cast and species isn't enoughthough to be fair i think it's seriously hard to make a decent story centered on dinosaurs without stepping on already trodden narrative territory, if you get what i mean. there's a reason most of the time they are merely a setting or cannon fodder enemies in movies and vidya
>>728886501You have no argument.
>>728883626while would they have feathers and normal eyes? they were fucking lizards lmao

>>728883626There was a game called dino island in my primary school's PC lab. I remember it fondly.
>>728883626I bet you're still mad about Pluto too
>>728886515Yeah that's true too. One thing featherfags like to accuse JP fans of is accepting all those shit World designs over feathers just because they aren't accurate when that's far from the truth.I haven't met anyone that actually likes any of the designs from World, like Giga for example. It's just horrendously ugly.JP's style made their dinosaurs aesthetically pleasing in ways that made sense.
could it be that they confuse types of dinosaurs?some were reptiles and some were birds. i doubt there would have been some sort of hybrid reptile/bird thing. reptiles that have wings now don't have feathers, so is it not possible that dinosaurs with feathers were just birds, and some dinosaurs were reptiles. other dinosaurs in the sea were just massive whales and other creatures. also giant insects. is dinosaur just a catch all for massive extinct animals in the past?
>>728883626This whole thing about hating feathered dinosaurs seems to me like the reaction of retards who watched Jurassic Park as children and became attached to the artistic design of those specific dinosaurs, rather than the reaction of people who are genuinely interested in and study dinosaurs.
>>728886832too small. i was thinking cassowaries or larger.
When I was a kid, my favorite dinosaur was the pachycephalosaurus. I used tk scream "I'M A PACHYCEPHALOSAURUS!" and run full force at our heavy wooden front door and crack my head on it and pretend to fall over and die to make people laugh
Feathers are to dinosaurs what pronouns are to woketards
>>728887065Yeah, it's called "baby duck syndrome"
>>728887065Feathered dinosaurs just look gay. It's not that deep.
I legitimately don't understand what's not to like on an aesthetic level about some dinosaurs having feathers. Non-feathered dinosaurs have always felt like lizards with a size slider set to fuckhuge values, which is all fine and dandy, but with some feathers sprinkled in you get something distinct and exotic compared to what we have today, not fitting the image of a typical scale-only reptile despite their general look, while also still being a far call from modern birds.
>>728887080Most large birds tend to be either neutral or somewhat friendly to humans.
>>728883626Why do modern devs hate giving players choices? Surely it's not hard to have both models in the game and load one based on player preference?
>>728884434You sound like a faggot>I'm afraid of a pidgeonJust fuck off
>>728887349Thats exactly what they did though in this case, but having the other option is enough to make people bitch.
Here's the thing, birdfags.People look at these, the defining features that are inherently reptilian and react accordingly. They don't care about the "birdlike hips" because that's not something that stands out.

>>728886917yes, aestethics and characterization trump over accuracy all the time.paleo autists tend to adorn their dinosaur designs with garish colors and unfitting patterns, and portray their dinosaurs in boring poses and actions that, while arguably realistic, they don't really appeal anyone beside other like minded peoplereal artists not only do whatever they feel it's better fitting for the creature, they may as well ignore these preconceptions as they aim to just make a good piece of art/creature design. it's also unsurprising that they are the ones that make homages to JP and WWD, unlike paleo autists that either turn a blind eye or try to pathethically rectify these in their own headcanoni appreciate prehistoric kingdom despite being a shit game exactly because it leans on the latter rather than the former regarding their dinosaur designs
>>728887738notice the gay beak? looks nothing like a raptor

>>728888246And this is a monitor lizard.

>>728888995There's an irony in it being retarded because it's meant to "one up" the T. Rex, in-universe and in the real world. I'd say that the spinosaurus from 3 is more retarded simply because there was no in-universe explanation for it being better than the T. Rex.

>>728889294Bullshit, Spinosaurus was implied to be a secret experiment. You already said JP didn't have real dinosaurs so it's completely in line with your logic that they should be able to cook something up that's super aggressive and could overpower a T. rex.
>>728889279>That's what Jurassic Park was though. Not really. People completely memory hole how much it changed what people knew about dinosaurs because it used more up to date information at the time to inform the traits.

Reminder that this is the only evidence we have of Velociraptor having feathers.Barely visible bumps on a single, eroded bone. From this, Redditors decided EVERY raptor had feathers despite there being no actual evidence and paleontologists ran with it because that meant more funding.>b-but what about China's feathered fossils???Funny how the West has had skin in the game for much longer with next to nothing to show for it as far as feather evidence goes on things like raptors, but once China gets involved suddenly it's breakthrough after breakthrough. Pure coincidence, I'm sure. Nothing to do with their reputation of pretending to be better than everyone else. Oh, and pay no attention to things like Archaeoraptor, once considered a "missing link" between dinosaurs and birds, and other proven fossil forgeries to scam rich customers out of money. >>728893226It is actually hard to tell if an animal is a herbivore or not based on the bones. Alot of turtles are carnivores yet they would look like something that never hurt a fly. >>728897435Show me a three fingered bird.
Reminder: Although feathers are basal to dinosaurs (see Kulindadromeus), some species evolved to lose it completely like the Ankylosaurs. This mummified Borealopelta is proof of that. Then there's Carnotaurus with its skin impressions showing scutes, a mummified Edmontosaurus showing pebbly skin, and T. rex scaly skin impressions. People like to draw T. rex with feathers because its distant ancestors that are 60 million years apart had feathers, but modern tyrannosaur fossils mostly show scaly skin impressions.

>>728900578Evidence shows just raptors and other little shit dinos had feathers. The big boys everyone likes have no sign of feathers.
>>728900382For only a few years, based off preconceived notions that the film only played off of since it was based on real shark attacks. It sparked more interest for shark conservation and study in the long run than it did hunting.
>>728900362They are and every fucking bird you see from now until the day you croak is a dinosaur. But people just find absurdity in the idea of every theropod being depicted as some overgrown chocobo.

>>728884101People seethe about feathers because the most recent evidence is that most dinosaurs either had no feathers, or feathers were sparse and limited to only certain parts of the body.

>>728900578>proposed evidenceFeatherfags are the ones ignoring evidence. We have multiple scaly skin impressions of tyrannosaurs; that's the REAL evidence. But because some little ancestor 100 million years ago had some tufts, featherfags decided that every single dinosaur must have feathers even when they don't make sense. A giant as big as a T.rex would overheat and die if you cover it with insulation.

>>728891104A few raptor cousins were confirmed feathered. Almost every other dinosaur was confirmed not feathered, specially the T. Rex. But furries are still trying to push the feathers to every dinosaur with the argument>maybe they lost when they grew up therefore they did have feathers despite every fossil being confirmed having scales
I like scales and feathers and find it more or less inevitable that feathers would epigenetically emerge or go dormant in the mostly-theropod species that might plausibly have had them based on environmental factors, IE when it's cold they'll grow in, when it's hot they'll drop out. There was already evidence for partial/situational endothermy in dinosaurs by my recollection, so why not seasonal feathering?
I like both, and I'm cool with whatever ends up being true for each species/genus/etc grouping and find it fascinating, but as far as entertainment goes reptile kaiju are awesome so I want more big murder lizard movies and games regardless of the science.>>728897658It reminds me of a giant horny toad. >>728901040Yeah but the smaller raptors are the exception in that regard definitely being heavily feathered
>>728905026scaredy birds that flee
>>728905026Emu's are two IQ points above brain dead. You could whack one in the head with a shovel and be done with it.
>>728905029i havent seen anything like that, unless you are talking about shit like >>728896723 which is obviously a joke
>>728905102And? They are still very dangerous birds.
>>728904886
>>728883626 based non feather enjoyers
>>728905228Because the cassowary is basically the raptors from Jurassic Park (movie).
>>728905164>There is evidence that the cassowary may have been domesticated by humans thousands of years before the chicken.Yeah no. cows (not bulls) have probably killed more humans by accidentally trampling.
>>728905395>There is evidence that the cassowary may have been domesticated by humans thousands of years before the chickenYeah right. Show me this evidence.
>>728905262No they aren't.The raptors are smart, actually kill multiple people and don't look gay as fuck.
>>728905262Except they aren't at all, because Velociraptors didn't have beaks, and had claws, you retard.
>>728905445https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cassowary#Relationship_with_humans
>>728905457Those raptors are fictional villains.>>728905513I said show me the evidence. Not link to fucking wikipedia.
>>728905542You can read it yourself retard
>implying dinosaurs had feathers
>>728905445One of the only recorded deaths by a cassowary was an elderly Florida man who kept it like a pet chicken. The bird only killed him because he tripped and fell and it startled the retard bird into attacking him.
>>728884541>>728884680This is the kind of thing you say when you've never seen animals in real life. Reptiles are the dumbest animals on Earth, they are dumber than retarded their brains are so underdeveloped they literally don't even have the capability to be retarded because they basically act entirely on instinct due to their tiny shitty brains. Birds can at least display higher levels of intelligence, learning, social hierarchy, tool use, flight migration patterns, long term memory, ability to recognize faces including human faces, observational learning, communication, object permanence, self awareness, etc.A dinosaur that is the dumbest fucking creature alive isn't scary, an intelligent predator, which is exactly how they are portrayed in ALL media, books, movies, vidya, Jurassic Park, Dino Crisis, everything portrays them as smart. Nothing at all like an actual reptile brain would behave.
>>728905584I did. And the source for the quote is from CNN.Go fuck yourself.
>>728883626>game has feathered dinosaursFucking basedEat shit scalies
>>728905629Oh boy here we go
>>728896297>>728897658>>728901263>T. rex>scaly skin
>>728905625>reptiles aren't intellige-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-zGIS-WWZQ
>>728905665>new study showsInstant giveaway its a lie.
>>728905625This has got to be one of the most retarded posts I've ever read. It's clear birdfags have an agenda and don't actually like animals enough to know how fucking stupid making a post like this is.
>>728898163Talk dumb, get the thumb.
>>728905723as opposed to steve irwin who told you they were heckin deadly animals?
>>728905457damn it's almost like they were paid actors
>>728905823Steve Irwin is vastly more trustworthy than CNN.CNN has a long track record of blatant lies.
>>728905723>every new piece of knowledge that came out after i turned into an adult is a LIE!!
>>728905873>The southern cassowary has been responsible for at least two human deaths. The first recorded fatality occurred in 1926 in Australia, and the second happened in Florida in 2019.lol
>>728905886No just everything in the last 10 or so years.
>>728905935yes yes when zoe quinn or something i know
>>728906013No just when Trump mindbroke the entire western world.
>>728906013Maybe Zoe Quinn slept with the cassowary
>>728891104The feathers on dinosaurs are like pic related, ignore all the BS colourful shit
>>728906531No, dinosaurs clearly had colorful plumage, you're retarded.
>>728896543>does nothing>winsyour perfect lifeform sir
>>728896543Why did these lazy fucks survive utter devastation while dinosaurs didn't? Doesn't add up.
>>728885559my question is this: how did multiple cultures (all not in contact with each other often or at all) come up with the idea of dragons as flying, fire-breathing reptiles if dragons didn't exist?
>>728906726No Dinosaurs had primitive feathers and I'm tired of fags making shit up
>>728895568>Doesn't mean that those are real either.found the lying kike
>>728907014Nope, sorry, they looked like parrots and peacocks and you're just gonna have to get used to it, dipshit.
>>728907081I get you're being facetious but we still have them all over Australasia and they should be used as evidence
>>728907250Cute cope, we all know you're just being a science denier at this point.
>>728906870Crocs just sit in a river and wait for food to come to them, either living or floating downstream. They have extremely low metabolisms and can do hibernation. Also, probably a lot of species of crocodiles did go extinct. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_szMq4hXJuc
>>728884726>>728884814Americans invented dinosaurs to sell toys though, they never existed
>>728885079
>>728905672>Acktually they are bumpsSoft skin with bumps hardly survive millions of years. That T rex skin fossil is scaly. And if T Rex do have have feathers, the feathers should be the thing to remain instead of skin.
Jurassic Park chads will continue winning.
