You can literally build anything on him. Smash your head against the keyboard on the shop and you'll have a viable Razor build. He's my favorite.

Good character design for coomers, but League is sloppa-tier with so few themes outside of some well made niggas like Jhin that the game in general suffers for it. Lowest common denominator slop is cancer, considering dota is already a bit LCD-adjacent because MOBA that's saying something

Too reliant on teammates picking heroes that have good synergy with his skills like Timbersaw or Primal Beast for example, without said picks he quickly becomes useless past earlygame

I crush with nyx and generally agree with the latter, leaving lane before you hit 6 delays your power spikes and who gives a shit about pressuring an enemy offlaner who will just tank your shit anyway. Sometimes you have to rotate early to win a fight but it's only when your pos 5 can't protect your pos 1. Waste of mana and XP to rotate all the time and you give up pressure on enemy safelane. I only rotate before level 6 when my pos 1 is in big trouble or the enemy is obviously vulnerable.

Depends on who you play and what you're up against. Fundamentally, you need to make a cost-benefit calculation at the start of the game and every minute on whether 1 of 3 things will be most effective:

Lane
Gank Mid
Gank Bot

If you have a bot lane that has kill potential, and/or the enemy bot is over extended and/or not mobile, and your 1 can be relied on to carry, you'll want to gank bot.

If mid has low enough HP and your own mid has kill potential, go mid. Generally, winning mid gives you a lot of momentum you can use to shut out the game.

If you have a good 3 and you can farm the 1 and 5, just do that.

The toughest part of of 4 is realizing which of these 3 options is the correct one to make, because if you choose wrong and waste time or die you only end up behind, while if the enemy makes a correct choice and profits you end up even more behind.

I'm not sure when exactly it started changing and with what character, though I'd say maybe Aphelios. Aphelios is a weird mix of both inspired kino (mute jewish moonpriest hitman) and cringe china pandering (asian pretty boy face, slender design for a hitman). Arguably, it started even earlier.
