Just be aware that the general story eventually goes off the rails somewhat for most people, and your enjoyment of it will depend on your tolerance for Disney, Final Fantasy, and Nomura's OCs, especially after KH1.If you really cannot be bothered to emulate the original to see if it's something you'd want to get into, only get the first part; it has the most games of the whole collection and has what is considered the best games in the series. However, two of the games (358/2 Days and Re:Coded) were not ported and instead turned into cutscene/movie compilations, so those two you will need to emulate if you want the full experience.

Very micromanagement heavy, some common but minor glitches like the cursor spazzing out on enemy phase, the story is pants on head retarded and Diana is only a giantess in the later half of the game (she has a son before the game begins too). But the maps are decent, the unit classes are fun, the sound design is generally pretty great and there's a fuckload of army customisation. It's also a lot less RNG-heavy than something like Fire Emblem just because each squad has up to 9 separate units in it all doing their thing so you only very rarely get completely fucked by crits or misses.
