Why is this game so fucking hard? I swear I've had less difficulty with Underrail
I grew up on CRPGs (Fallout 1, 2, Planescape Torment, Baldur's Gate 1, 2, Neverwinter Nights...)
Never had so much trouble as with this game
I thought Larian was the company that made normie friendly RPGs? The fuck. Should I switch to Explorer Mode?
>>
Are you playing on Tactician?
>>
Eh? It's their easiest turn based game, too easy to break
>>
>>728899168
You're not abusing party unlink.
>>
>>728899168
DOS2 is even harder. But it’s mostly really only hard in the fist act, if you play smart and approach encounters cautiously you’ll be fine.
>>
>Why is this game so fucking hard?
Because you're mentally deficient and can't understand simple CC and AP economy?
>I swear I've had less difficulty with Underrail
Am I supposed to be impressed by that statement? Underrail is by no means a hard game even on DOMINATING

Just drink a potion to entussle you

No one has as many friends as the many with many cheeses...
>>

That excuse has more holes than a slice of gorgombert
>>
>>728899168
Ranged is really strong
The game is broken. One of the less fun ways it’s broken is that it’s very easy to run from fights. If you’re really stuck just pick off enemies one by one

I tried getting ibto this game but i just cant. Finished DOS2 on honor mode, thats how good it is, but i cant get into this one.
>>
>>728899351
DOS2 is harder when playing legitimately, but is also easier to cheese.
>>
>>728899942
That makes sense given it’s a less refined version of DOS2 with simpler mechanics and less QOL
>>
>>728899997
True, but DOS1 is pretty easy to get powerful builds online by end of Act 2. DOS2 has a lot of traps easily letting you make an absolutely useless character.
t. watched my brother get absolutely destroyed on DOS2 tactician because he used fextralife builds
>>
>>728900005
Its not a less refined version its an entirely different system and i just cant get into it. Maybe if i stop subconciously comparing it to DOS2 i might have more patience with it but thats for when im REALLY bored.
>>
>>728899438
>why yes, I am a massive bitch with a micropenis whose sole response to adversity is to run away
What if he's not a loser, though?
>>
>>728900150
I feel like most of the basics are still the same. There’s no armor system but you still abuse CC and the environment when you can. It’s just a bit fuzzy because some things and random chance and some things are determined and there’s less movement options and the environment is less vertical
>>
Can you really call it cheese when it is clearly intended and supported
The only encounter that I really had trouble with was the crypt boss and I'm a complete retard
>>
>>728900368
>was the crypt boss
Braccus Rex? Just use the choke point by the door.
The hardest fight in the game was the skeleton general in the southeast part of Act 1. It’s just a wide open space with not many places to run to, and he spawns a ton of dangerous adds.
>>
>>728900291
In any case i think ill prefer it to the new game. Larian games get more and more psycho with each releaae and im afraid this new one will just be too psycho for me.
>>
>>728899359
>Am I supposed to be impressed by that statement? Underrail is by no means a hard game even on DOMINATING
Arrogant virgin NEETs like you are the reason why Dominating just got a 100% HP buff to all enemies
Some people enjoy actually having fun in games you know?
>>
>>728900515
I like me some psycho. Armor system has some unfortunate knock on effects but other than that DOS2 has my favorite combat in all of gaming. If they have the same combat and systems designers I’m sure I will love it. They mentioned in an interview something about how the combat will be about “chaining kills” and that it’s simple to learn but hard to master.
I hope they keep the crazy elemental effects, elementalist blaster glass cannon mage is my favorite fantasy archetype and playing as one in DOS2 was one of the best feelings in gaming history for me.

Well that's the one I fought before I made the thread... extra frustrating after that fucking trap house. And I'm level 6 while he is level 7, maybe I should come back to it later
>>
>>728900823
You probably should, level is very important in divinity games
>>
>>728899168
>he doesn't throw a 15 ton treasure chest at everything, killing them in one hit
lawl
>>
>>728900710
No by psycho i mean how gory they get.
DOS1 doesnt take itself too seriously, minimal gore.
DOS2 gets more gory but not in great POV detail.
BG3 has some surgeon cutting open a who is alive in POV detail.
New game first trailer is a 3d cartoon snuff film, i can imagine what the game is gonna be like.
>>
>>728900710
Btw i agree DOS2 system is 10/10
>>
>>728899168
Not going to blame you for that. I have almost played the entire divinity franchise with div2 as the exception, and I found that dos 1 to be the most difficult installation in the series while dos 2 (funnily enough) to be the easiest one; the rest like divine or beyond are pretty much quite balanced and linear in terms of everything, but dos 1 is the most 'weirdest' in the series with features like different enemy approach or environmental interaction; because they have limited character build (design) then you have to utilize pretty much everything in your game, be it playing around with your environment, save scumming, or cheese your way up through the fights.

>Arrogant virgin NEETs like you are the reason why Dominating just got a 100% HP buff to all enemies
No, that's just Styg being an arrogant retard as usual and you're an even bigger retard for bothering with his poorly made trash rather than playing better games.
>>
>>728901158
They said in an interview that it will have the same tone as DOS2, but with the stuff displayed more intensely with cinematics.
I understand not being into the dark fantasy stuff, but I’m optimistic. I notice a lot people don’t understand how fucked up the world of DOS2 is, because it’s not portrayed in a more personal way. Also I feel like it’s a nice contrast to DOS1. Mortismal described DOS1 as a “mythical allegory than an actual story” and thinking about it that way makes it make a lot more sense. It tries to tell the story of how a fairy tale fantasy world gets corrupted and leads to the shithole that is current Rivellon.
>>
i havent played dos in a while, but wasn't status effects really overpowered? or at least, wasn't that why they made the whole 'status effect' shield thing change for dos 2? (which did not stop status effects from being overpowered at all)
>>
>>728901512
There are two types of dos 1: the classic and enhanced edition. Classic version is easy because your character are overpowered as fuck, the enhanced edition nerfed alladat stuff and makes your character weaker and 'force' you to play by the design that is utilizing environmental damage and clutter. Playing as assassin in dos 1 classic/legacy is way more op than in dos 1 enhanced for example
>>
>>728901512
More or less, it was a combination of poorly designed stat systems, poorly designed status effects and poorly designed combat in general, D:OS2 was more of the same but with somehow less depth.
>>
>>728901467
>but with the stuff displayed more intensely with cinematics.
Yea thats the part that worries me. At some point the psycho element will overtake any awesome gameplay and it will just become a cringefest fail.
>>
>>728899168
Nice try.
>>
>>728899168
Winning battles rely heavily on the use of buffs/debuffs (the colored diarrhea you see on the ground). I don't recommend playing this game if you're into RPGs as it doesn't feel like your typical RPG at all in terms of battles.
>>
Which is better, the original or the enhanced edition then?
>>
>>728901649
DOS2 has a lot of moments to play the hero in such a dark world (more than BG3 really) and I think that’s a good counterbalance to the gore. Swen said the reason the trailer was so awful was to motivate you to fight against the bad guys. Tho sure it could easily end up going too far and becoming just mindless edge.
I still remember healing that one guy on the beach of Fort Joy. It was a powerful moment to me despite how minor it was.
>>
>>728901823
Original is WAY more broken. You could just spam your most powerful skills and instantly clear encounters.
>>
>>728901843
Eh we will see. DOS2 was never POV so it was saved from being cringefest no matter how psycho things got. In any case if its gonna be anything pike DOS2 i hope they have a spell like master of sparks in it. It was my favorite spell lol.
>>
>>728901823
EE. Elemental shields were completely fucking OP. Rangers sucked massive ass and had horrible skills up until they maxed Sneak and could sneak for 1 AP, then they did double damage forever thanks to one of the talents. Tactician is a better mode than the original's hard for not being pure stat bloat but actually changing the encounters you deal with.
>>
>>728899168
I started playing DOS2 without playing DOS1 first and they hype of this Braccus Rex guy I thought they were setting up the main villain of the game, but no the first act is just one huge callback to the first one, so I have to ask, am I missing out by skipping the first one?
