Or blame the writers for not letting you make Makoto not go on the date with Kotonoha in the first place so there'll always be some sort of drama.

She willingly poked her nose on other people's business, helped push two people together purely for her own self amusent, and then immediately started liking a boy the EXACT SECOND that he obtained a girlfriend.

She liked the guy before he got with Kotonoha, that was kinda the whole fucking point anon.
The worst thing you can say about her at the starting point of the story is that she threw some emotional baggage in Makoto's face by kissing him just before he left, but frankly I'd still blame that on him because he decides that means he's alright with making a move on Sekai, but only AFTER he starts dating Kotonoha. If he cared enough about her he'd have cancelled that date and stayed with Sekai, but instead he's just GOT to play both sides at once and fucks it up almost immediately.
