SMW's physics fucking suck and I can't enjoy anything made in it as a result. Shit's just way too floaty and there's so much air control you barely have to commit to your jumps.
>>728905791>SMW's physics fucking suckabsolutely filtered
>>728905448>autists with thousands of hours in the same game want harder challenges in the gamewow
superior system for the superior game
tryhards, retards, compniggers, subhumans as a whole
>>728905791>Shit's just way too floatywe're talking about SMW not NSMB
>>728905448Recommend some vanilla hacks thenAnd not obvious shit like A Plumber for All Seasons
I've dodged lots of kaizoshit and found some decent romhacks last semester>Mario is Missing: Done Right>Legend of the Four Keys>Super Mario Essex
>>728905448all twitchfags
>>728905448>>728906464This, the same issue as Pokemon romhacks. They're not meant to be played by normal people. They're only intended for streamers to rage at.
>>728906412>>Super Mario Essexwhy isn't this on SMW Central?
>>728905448good thing there's filtersthere are many good hacks i never played
>>728907738I've stumbled with a random YT longplay and I've found the patch, its a JP hack, not a W*stern onehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6BzoiV5yF58
>>728908038Also, a patch is in the description
>>728908038>>728908090looks cool, will check it out
>2026 and still no one wants to be the OP and make a super mario /v/orld 4
>>728906307
>>728908223>pornno thanks
>>728908267what the actual fuck are you talking about tard?
>>728908223what's the difficulty of the first 3? it's not kaizoslop is it?
Thanks for giving me motivation to play through SMW again OP
>>728908341>/v/1Hard. Some levels skirt Kaizo but its manageable.>/v/2First three worlds are fine. World 4 starts turning to Kaizo shit with a bulk of World 5 being Kaizo garbage.>/v/3Kaizo shit. Some levels weren't playtested and were garbage. We was meant to be getting a 1.2 unofficial patch which was completed but the two anons went AFK.
>>728908223We already have /v/orld 4https://catbox.moe/c/oufkqr
>>728908223If there is enough interest, I might CONSIDER trying to do something like that for Summer. Maybe enough time has passed that there won't be so much garbage levels by newfags.
Hack progression recommendation:Learn2Kaizo (tutorial hack)2Kaizo2Learn (another tutorial hack)Love Yourself (first real kaizo hack, but easy)Quickie World 1 (beginner kaizo, but tough at times)Quickie World 2 (a bit harder)Akogare (late novice / early intermediate)Then branch out. The best intermediate hack in recent memory is Luminescent. After that, Yoshi's Revenge is phenomenal.
>>728908616Does Learn2Kaizo teach me how to shell jump?
>>728908838Yes. Those two tutorial hacks teach you everything you need to know. If anything, they err on the side of a little too much information. Just play them to get the basics, don't worry about memorizing EVERYTHING. Then play Love Yourself and Quickie World. You'll pick up what you really need to know from actually playing hacks.
>>728905448I seriously don't get it, it's like if the Doom community only churned out slaughterslop inb4 >implying it doesn't, there's plenty of regular content out there if you just want to play Doom which doesn't seem to be the case with SMW romhacks
I got banned from SMW Central in 2008 because I accidentally fucked up a fish sprite in a community level pack.
>>728909257>inb4Then I'll just say it does and you're wrong, you wretched N*GGGER!!!!!!1!!11!!
>>728906307Daisys Crazy Adventure
>>728909812I actually played that creator's first hack a few weeks ago so I was looking at checking this one out too
>>728905791>Shit's just way too floatyYou do know that you can stop holding the jump button to fall faster, right?
>>728909812Does Daisy get Destroyed in this one too
>>728909257Kaizo SMW is basically "pure" platforming and gameplay. There's no story, no cutscenes, no bullshit. It just tests on you on raw platforming skill.Plus the creativity is off the charts. There are some unbelievably talented creators, and there's a giant library of assets, enemies, mechanics, and custom ASM for creators to draw from. It's for people who like platforming games and have played them for decades. You want something absurdly challenging.
>>728905448>What the fuck happened to the romhacking scene?Nothing. Learn how the filter works.
>>728905448you know the funniest part? 改造(kaizo) means mod, modificationthe entire genre stems from japanglish
>>728906307the JUMP duology
>>728909812 Based pick, that hack is so schizo it loops back around to being kino. The overworld design feels like it was assembled during a fever dream and half the levels have those "was this tested?" vibes, but it kinda works if you're in the right mindset. Just don’t go in sober.
>>728908341Most people should be able to beat the first hack since it's short and the harder levels are mostly in the last world. /v/1 also doesn't have many branching paths IIRC, so unlike the others, you're forced to play whatever level is in the way even if you don't like it or are getting filtered. The other two hacks crank it up hard but I like them better overall.>>728908524There were around three playtesting documents for /v/orld 3. One of the main problems was the OP repeatedly ghosting everyone.
>>728905448
>>728908223Realistically speaking, is there anyone left who would even contribute to a new /v/orld? Feels like the first ones only happened due to muh covid.
>>728905954SMWfags will never know the feeling of having dozens of fun and well-designed hacks that aren't kaizoshit.
>>728905954>1-10 kaizoWe using a rhythm game difficulty scale for Kaizo hacks now or some shit?
>>728914320I contributed, so of course me. I've also seen interest on /vr/, and in January someone made an original level to have ready in case of a new hack.
>>728906307I've read good things about A Super Mario Adventure and Return to Dinosaur Land but that's about it if you want vanilla hacks.
>>728912882Only the first one, maybe. I remember JUMP 1/2 being infested with levels that drag on for far too long, most of the with weird gimmicks.
>>728908339STOP HARASSING ME
>>728914320/v/orld 1 wasn't made during the coof.>but it's the shortest and--And that's a good thing. It means a fourth hack could be a much needed back-to-basics, but even better.
what's the hardest kaizoI want to watch some footage real fast to marvel at the autism
>>728917595https://youtube.com/watch?v=Jap5zVVWZfwI think SMWC rejected this.
>>728917742at what point can we start classifying these as man-made horrors
