But as the game goes on they get sucked into the creepypasta shit, going out of bounds and finding the Ice Key, the Ice Palace where you learn about Snowgrave and "YOU WERE USED UP," the third map where you have to kill Susie and Ralsei, then everyone in Hometown, then enter the Shelter and confront the boss that hurts Kris in "real life," culminating in Toby's final trick where Kris's avatar walks out of the game and Kris has to go into it to claim the Shadow Mantle. It's the exact opposite of Link's Awakening, the dream of the game is eroded by unpleasant reality until there's no difference between the two. Kris wanted to escape into a dream, only to find they're still trapped in a nightmare and they might never wake up.
