Just keep it in mind.
the harder content is the sort of thing where one person playing like shit can ruin 15-30 minutes of everyone's time, as well as buffs from items that might be... mildly pricey.
So take the time to learn your class, and learn it well. Do dungeons, get some damage addons, and if you see someone doing something that seems really amazing, ask them about it.
maybe they answer, maybe they dont.

When midnight rolls around, and if you are still subbed, learn gathering professions and sell your gathered stuff on the auction house.
Use a guide on how to efficiently spend profession talent points on gathering because that specifically is actually dangerous and irreversible.

and dont forget to check out non mythic/raiding stuff like the not-pokemon system, or fishing.
you might lose yourself in the minigames and side content, or perhaps chasing down old content.

you are going through an easier version of the burning legion expansion.
I would advise to keep your character in, and spam joining timerunner raids.
whacky funny stuff is going on in timerunning and people can slowly become invincible and one-shot everything.
so you join raids at every difficulty and trail behind, helping where you can.
you get to unlock most of the items and transmogs from legion as well, in a much easier fashion.
when you are ready, at some point you can transfer the character over to normal retail wow.
beware the feature keeps getting broken.
so I would advise enjoying timerunner legion
