What DMC should I play next? I finished DMC5, it was my first DMC, the cutscenes were the best part the game itself was extremely repetitive and lackluster though

Doesn’t take long to beat2: no3: Bumps up the difficulty alot compared to 1 but has an impressive amount of mechanics to engage with. You do have to practice and experiment a little to be somewhat competent but is really satisfying if you get a handle on the systems. >>728909437try 3 or 4, they'll be steps back in some mechanics but 3 is more in-depth in other ways. if you really do get the Style Switcher mod it's especially a bit crazy, though I do not recommend Crimson for a first time, I only mention Switcher because it's now default in the Switch version (hah) so fuck it, may as well be a potential choice or not for newcomers.but 1 is a very acquired taste since it was weened off of the RE4 development days with a very different flow to combat pre-pizazz and refinement, and DMC2 is DMC2, it will always suck.

I actually do like his more serious vibe in DMC1 compared to the wacky wahoo pizza man thing in 3,4 and 5.

Also, while "whacky" DMC3 Dante by far had most character development precisely because he started off as edgy asshole that treated everything as a joke due to being bitter thanks to his daddy issues.Dante in 4 is side-lined as fuck to shoehorn Itsuno's OC steel donut to replace him called Nero burner. There is nothing to say about him there. He is just a pure meme. He only shows some character to him when asking for Yamato back and then deciding to give it to Nero. That was the only fucking scene in which Dante felt like Dante.5 was weird. It's like mix of DMC1 Dante and "wack wooohooo" one. However, he feels worse. With 4 one can blame Dante barely existing as to why his character was so lacking beyond just being a meme. In 5 he is meant to be one of our active protagonists, that does have lot of screen time, yet he "just exists" here as well. Just look at how his whole reunion with Vergil got treated. It was beyond underwhelming despite all the build up this reunion had (also Trish was ugly as fuck in 5 after being so smoking hot in 4 wtf).
