The entire reason many characters in these types of stories, especially Evangelion, get so fucked up is because there's regularly no one to keep them on track or help fix their mentality. Even official media for Eva kind of tackled this; the manga was really lame, but by straight up skipping some of the most traumatic events of the main series by being in different places at different times or subverting certain things from even happening as a sort of alternate timeline take, Shinji doesn't break down nearly as much and manages to be a lot more affirmative in fixing the world.I wouldn't be surprised if some SRW continuities try to unfuck Char even somewhat, too. I know every time he does CCA the cast absolutely give him hell for it.
