This is gonna sound weird. But do game devs or creators to games really enjoy putting the time and effort into repulsive lead characters or gimmicky shit and not feel bad about it? Like I may have a fun idea for a soul-like with fishing, where bosses are eldrich monsters you fish up and you join other fishermen taking on the beasts of the sea. It could be an alright game and I could see myself putting passion and a ton of effort into making it good with lore, music, designs etc. It would be somewhat of a decent enough idea to put time and effort into. Then you've got stuff like shitting simulator where you just go find the bathroom in each level to take a shit and the mc is some giant ugly hamplanet and the npcs are trash cans and toilets. Sure I could put it on steam and it's a fun joke game streamers play with friends for a day or two but it's ultimately nothing. I don't feel proud or anything from making it, i could make money from sales and some weird merch but that's it.Sure not every game needs some badass dude or some sexy girl as the lead. But do devs of joke games enjoy it or not feel shame? I'm not saying everything needs to be a work of art, but do they feel any sense of accomplishment from making it, is the money or the joke worth it?
