>>728927043Zelda 1 was in-part inspired by adventure games, such as The Portopia Serial Murder Case and of course Wizardry. Part of what they wanted to do was have an actual adventure game where you solve puzzles, but did so without having to do it in a command-based menu like in those games. They were also inspired by the Tower of Duraga, because that game was so obtuse, but it created a neat sub-culture in the arcade scene of players sharing secrets on how to beat it. Therefore, when you explore Zelda 1, there's a point in going through every nook and cranny and finding every secret, because it became a necessity to complete the game, and it was difficult so that you would have the social experience of figuring out how to do that. The Wild Tears Zeldas are designed after Skyrim, which is designed more like a modern TTRPG session, where it follows a predictable pattern of Quest->Walk Nearby->Thing to Kill/Steal->Walk Back. Everything is hyper self-contained to make exploring easier, which in turn sort of makes it unnecessary and redundant. The two games play wildly different.

>>728927043>Wasn't this the dream Zelda game people were asking for?Yes. It only got hate from OoToddlers and no one cares what they think. Least of all Nintendo.
