>Turning off the "Hair" practically doubles the FPS and in some cases looks outright better (when it gets wet in the rain)

Are there any other examples of poorly programmed/fucked up graphical settings?
>>
>implying that capcom poorly optimizes their games

quit lying
>>

Have we already forgotten about the insane frame drops in RE8 as a result of a very, very unoptimized particle system?
>>
>>728927936
This same thing happened with TW3 ten years ago. Nvidia hairworks was pushed as revolutionary but destroyed FPS. Two GPU upgrades later and when I replay it, I still turn it off because it just looks worse. It just reacts to the lighting in unnatural and unexpected ways, most of the time just looking way too bright. And the hair still clips through armor the same as if it was off. Meme setting.

Hair in Witcher 3 was unusable

And AMD's TressFX would also halve your framerate. Fancy hair physics is just very performance intensive. A generation or two needs to pass before you can turn it on.
>>
>>728928239
It makes a big effect on non cutscene gameplay.

>Have we already forgotten
I didn't evevn know about them in the first place and I played the game on very release on all ultra. RE8 ran very well
>>
>>728928341
sure, whatever but the issue is the retarded camera light that's following the player which highlights the hair a fuckton when you enable hair strands
luckily it's fixable on pc
>>
>>728928065
That was their retarded DRM, or were there other problems that got overlooked because of the DRM hitches?
>>
>>728928425
That was a cope. Many, many games use Denuvo. Only for RE8 did you get a big performance hit from particle effects.
>>
>>728928468
Interesting, do you have any sources for that? Console version did not exhibit that issue which is why it was obvious that it's their own cringe DRM doing the anti piracy checks whenever you hit an enemy, it's also why the early denuvo crack crashed the game because of that.
>>
>>728927936
cant stand the way leons haircut looks in this. the hair too. it just looks like a bad wig. RE4 og looked great, and even RE2remake i thought looked better than this
>>
>>728928541
>Console version did not exhibit that issue
That is not true at all. Scenes of intensive particle effects would cause large frame drops.
>>
>>728927936
Volumetric fog in Monster Hunter World
>>
>>728928832
Right but on pc even when shooting a basic mob would cause a stutter which absolutely did not happen on the console, not even on ps4.
>>
>>728927936
Hair physics are one of the finer pleasures in PC gaming.

i dont know whats the difference other than the shadows looking a bit worse near his ear with hair strands on
>>
>>728928709
his haircut in re4r is the same type as in re2r but it's just more grown out

Tree tessellation cuts your fps in half in rdr2

Devs have limited time to work on a game, and they have a certain vision + bullshit tech they wanna push. They could have made both settings look good if they spent enough time on it, but clearly, in this case, it was meant to be ON, and they half-assed the OFF option.

>>728930532
Nothing is funnier than the Cyberpunk 2077 pathtracing issue. The entire game looks so much different with it on, it's a different experience entirely, and it only runs on 1% of all video cards at 60fps.

What irks me the most you can only learn what causes what for each title, maybe cross-reference between engines sometimes.
Every motherfucking time I play a new game I have to do lots of tweaking modding and fixing in order to play the game properly.

holy moly this looks amazing. Maybe in 10 years we can run that on cheap gpus at a zillion fps and laugh at how pathetic it was not being able to run it except on the most expensive gpus.
>>
>>728929857
worth keeping hair effects on, the fps loss is minimal because its only her but it looks so good.
>>
>>728930870
Even if you could run it on your GPU at 60fps, you'd still need a processor and some adequate ram to keep up with the rendering times. These GPU's run on basically anything, but the games don't.

It's only the most remastered game in the existence
