>>728934292The Dark Soul was the original Soul found by the Pygmy. The same as how Gwyn found the Lord Soul, Nito found the Death Soul, the Witches found the Life Soul. Humanity is the representation of the divided Dark Soul. Instead of holding it himself, the Pygmy spread it through all of his followers and allies and descendants. But at a certain point, too much humanity becomes mutative and dangerous for those without enough power. The Curse of the Undead was set up by Gwyn to kneecap and limit humanity when he realized that one day they'd rise up to take over the world. The Darksign works to cut humans off from the magical aspects of their humanity that would otherwise let them stand toe to toe with the Gods.

Assumedly most of his early followers were the latter, but the former accounts for most of the Royal Family. The different Souls create different species.
