For me though, Majora's Mask was, for Nintendo at the time, a pretty bold game both with its themes and style. If Majora's Mask makes you uncomfortable with it's doomed 3 day cycle and surrealist horror overtones, Tears of the Kingdom made me uncomfortable with the implication of Zelda's ancestor breeding with a goat furry. There's been a bestiality subtext to the Zelda games for a while. Link keeps meeting cute girls who are part animal, and this leads to a lot of shipping of Link with animal people. Tears of the Kingdom though makes it an overt plot point that Zelda is descended from Sonia and Rauru. This had quite a different effect on me. I didn't like thinking about Tears of the Kingdom's story very much because of this, where Majora's Mask, despite it being strange and tragic, is enticing.

I'll admit that Tears is technically a better game than Breath but while I 100%'d Breath; I dropped Tears after the 4th dungeon. For the sole reason that the same map ruined my desire to play faster and faster. I was just bored to tears after a certain point.The identical map is truly lethal and it eclipses everything good in Tears.The open world model is already the lazy choice for devs and they decided to be even lazier the second time. MM was a new game, it just re-used models from OOT to speed up building it, and used the parallel world theory to explain it story-wise.
