Linux gaming beats Windows 11 in ALL benchmarks

If you're still using Windows in 2025 + .95 you are genuine retard.
>>
I can't believe that the year of the linux desktop actually happened
Admittedly, it took a megacorp like valve pumping millions into it with no immediate return (something public companies are deathly allergic to due to muh shareholders muh quarterly reports) and for Microsoft to go full retard, but still

This is what i wanna know too, i did know someone way back that would read translated eroge on linux but dunno what distro he used.
Also, i heard linux doesnt like jewvidia very much and ayymd is just a better fit for it which scared me but apparently endeavouros is good for that

old card, but still very impressive what it can do. It'll struggle with AAA slop, but it'll play everything else above 60fps

All you need is Arch Linux. Grab latest everything for AMD. You are now faster than Windows and Nvidia.
>>

I'm kind of tired of Arch as a daily driver was thinking of dualbooting with Debian for development and something else for gaming. How is CachyOS?

>>
>>728958027
Distro shopping for performance is mostly placebo. Some distros just ship with very old software, for example Debian, so I don't think you could play that Indiana Jones game on that (yet).

good i hope more megacorps do literally anything actually good

>>
>>728957891
How though? Does it just not raytrace anything and call it a day?

It's emulated raytracing, works, but is more taxing on GPUs that don't have native raytracing hardware

I should've looked just a few places down because the 2048SP version is really close as well
So if you combined it with the regular RX 580, that series of card is the #1 most used discrete Radeon card
>>
>>728955983
It's a combination of Valve making Linux gaming good and Microsoft self-sabotaging Windows. All Windows has ever had to do was just keep re-releasing Windows 7 and they can't even do that right.
>>
>>728958373
Linux AMD drivers soft emulate hardware accelerated ray tracing.
Since they're not official AMD drivers.
>>
>>728957812
If krita is overwhelming then CSP will be worse for you. I hate krita but you can use it to get the ball rolling, it's perfectly fine for that and you might not even need the advanced features CSP has. PaintTool SAI is the one I remember lots of my friends using back in the day, that was like a decade ago but must be good too. Pick one and learn to use it. Happy painting fren.
>>
>>728958373
AMD discontinued AMDVLK sometime ago. It's missing extensions on Windows as it hasn't been updated in forever on the proprietary side.

On Linux they use RADV which has those extensions.
>>
>>728958595
>Since they're not official AMD drivers.
They're now, AMD discontinued their AMDVLK driver a couple of months ago and is focusing on these drivers now.

>>
>>728958839
It's using Vulkan Raytracing not DirectX Raytracing. RT hardware is optional for Vulkan Raytracing. What's required is having the driver extensions which Linux provides. It falls back to using shaders units instead of RT cores. Like how using Lumen in UE5 has SW fallback if you don't have a RT GPU.

a lot of the time corporations would make WAY more money acting with the best interests of the public at heart, but the current model only cares about making more money in the current quarter, not 10 years down the line
so when their short term thinking comes back to bite them in the ass, the government bails them out because the entire political class is compromised

AMD on windows doesn't support raytracing with shaders (emulated raytracing). It only works if you have hardware support for raytracing. That's not the case on linux because the AMD driver for linux supports raytracing with shaders.

the rest of your argument is fine but this is a retarded take when it's coming directly from the largest studios in gaming, which are on the same level as any multimedia conglomerate at this point. Try making your argument without the pointless hyperbole next time, you won't sound as much like a bad faith indian
>>
>>728960630
I don't really understand why they don't just cave in and open sauce the full GPU spec
Windows is on it's way out, they'd get to tap into the nascent linux market, and it's not like it would cost them anything since most of the work would be done by contributors like with AMD's drivers
>>

RX580 does not get updated drivers from AMD for Windows

RX580 does get updated drivers from MESA
>>

These Linux comparison are always some cherry picked garbage on low end amd hardware and shit amount of ram for what it's trying to run.
And people keep falling for it.
>>
>>728960880
At this point the only reason Nvidia doesn't go open-source is probably because they think someone'll find a way to hack their drivers to increase performance for AI model shit on their gaming GPUs.
They don't give a fuck about gaming anymore, so you know their reason won't be in any way related to that.

Hit or miss. I can't get Mechwarrior 4 cutscenes to work but literal who Cruise Ship Tycoon game works and supposedly both only need DirectPlay. It does work most of the time for old games and always for modern games. Tbf modern games rely on SDL nowadays.
>>
>>728961367
according to steam stats, these comparisons are way more relevant than any high end onesbsince most people have a GTX 1660 or worse
