What do you call this genre of games that are highly polished, have solid gameplay, amazing music and visuals, but just aren't that interesting to play?
Nintendo games
>>728956000Clair Obscurlikes.
>>728956000They have no name because that's every game ever made if you don't enjoy them, which is different for everyone duh. I thought Ocarina of Time was boring and never finished it but you don't need an entire new genre name for not liking things.
>>728956000Sex with Fi.
>>728956000i used to shill SS for years then i played OOT and realized every good mechanic was just recycled
>>728956000Is anyone honestly still surprised that for publicly traded entertainment corporations making games is just a means to an end, and not something they actually care about? This is not being cynical, it's literally just a description of what those entities are. The people who wind up in charge didn't get there by being fans of the company, they got there by following market trends and saying "hmmm I'll buy stock in this company because the trends look favorable". Then they end up on some board of directors or CEO.They could just as easily have ended up running a hardware store or something, they literally don't give 1 fuck what company it is. It's just a cash cow to them.Unfortunately it's basically a recipe to ensure that none of the people calling the shots ever have a real clue about how to run a video game company. So they just do what they've always done, analyze other game companies for trends that seemed to work. And when that fails they fall back on advertisement to try and tell people what they're supposed to like, instead of finding out what people actually like. It's the same story for all entertainment industries, including music and movies. The system is practically set up to guarantee that every company has their soul sucked out by the time they make it big.Why does anyone still even hold their breath expecting anything but slop from modern game companies?
