Should I read it or play it if I want to experience this? The story I know so far interests me. I hear the game is basically a bunch of alternate endings to the story.

It's frustrating, the clues are bullshit, and it's easy as fuck to get locked out of an ending or just die due to unreasonable item or character interactions, like, pixel-perfect shit you click then it works. Also, the story and logic of the scenarios are inconsistent and nonsensical. Unless you plan to play with a guide, just watch a Youtube playthrough of it.
