Probably not, outside of the first game. The games are more competent TRPGs than people give them credit for, but watching the numbers go up, and finding all the exploitative ways you can make the numbers go up, is the main attraction. Recommending Disgaea for anything else would be like recommending the Yakuza games based on the Blackjack minigame.

At some point you will find a level so easy to complete that you can’t help but grind it a couple of times for easy levels.Part of the fun is finding those exploits to make completely absurd number go up. Sometimes it’s grindy, but also part of it is finding the path of least resistance. Only really super hyper lategame stuff NEEDS to be grinded for, but the path through post-game is fairly steady to a certain point.
Grinding is the main appeal of these games, it would be wise to look elsewhere if you don't like grinding
