Does being in Smash really change the image of a franchise/character to the public? Bomberman used to be loved, but now he's seen as a failed/loser franchise because he got BTFO.R1 sold millions since it came out before smash, but R2 flopped since Smashfags only wants games with playable characters. Can't even get games on NSO or a collection.

Bomberman is a game that came out in the 80's, that basically failed to build on it's own formula throughout dozen of iterations, and a handful of attempts to branch out into others genres which didn't quite land (in spite of Bomberman Hero being quite good, actually).You just can't expect people to care forever. Bomberman needs a new game that actually does something, before people start caring again.
