>open world game>sidequests have shit rewardsWhy is this so common?

>>728969462>doesn't like having funGet the fuck off my board. Extrinsic game "design" is only allowed to be discussed on /vr/.
I don't understand why TotK was so afraid of making rewards good.>find treasure map>explore area>find the treasure>it's a piece of armor that you can't upgrade(if you can upgrade it would take hours of grinding to make it catch up to your current set)>since you can't upgrade it enemies two-shot you>reward ends up being useless
>>728969462the rewards in Botw were good though?
>>728970837idk why the korok seeds filtered everyone so much, the weapons being used up, even the armor is being misunderstood by the lot of you. You're not supposed to get everything in one playthrough, just use what you have and replay it another day.
>open world game>sidequest gives a reward so good you use it for the entire game>basically can't replay the game since you know that sidequest exists and not doing it gimps your entire playthrough
open world is the opposite of game design, it's anti-design. Think of it like a gravity field, the further objects are from eachother the less force there is to hold everything in orbit.
>>728971820So what, I'm supposed to ignore every single treasure chest and questline since the reward is going to be either armor that I won't use after I get my main armor set or materials/rupees to upgrade it?I'm supposed to ignore the exploration in the exploration game and just beeline to the final boss after I get some armor?
why would sidequest have good rewards in zelda? these people are basically savages living on fucking huts.

>>728971953You're supposed to not bitch about a piece of content because it doesn't radically transform the rest of your playthrough.
>>728971863>devs release balance patch to single player game>everything becomes equally shitty, removing any sense of becoming more powerful
>>728971863there's no easy answer, the Open world design is fundamentally flawed sans some rare exceptions and no BptW/TotK aren't ones.Linear is superior in 95% of the cases.
