So was it ever explained why he still looks like a human? Ever other heartless is just some monster even when sora turns himself into a heartless he's a basic shadow

In distress, Ventus's broken heart cried out for help, attracting the attention of a newborn Sora, who filled in the gaps in Ventus's heart, allowing Ventus to recover. And that's fine as far as friendship magic goes except why the hell does Vanitas look like Sora. In theory, they've never encountered each other prior to KH3.

It's more interesting to me that Scar stays exactly the same as a heartless. Dude was so evil the most evil form he could take was himself.
