How do they compare to the original games?

Compared to the NES/SNES originals they're all marked improvements. It only gets muddy when you compare the Pixel Remasters to other ports of these games. The PR of 4 is arguably one of the worst ways to play the game, for instance. And many of those ports, on the GBA or PSP or what have you, have extra content not included in the Pixel Remasters. It's subjective whether any of that extra content was worth it, but we shouldn't need to pick and choose.I'd say that 3 and 5 are the only ones that are definitively better than any other port of said games. 2 and 4 are noticeable downgrades compared to the GBA and PSP versions, respectively. 1 is fine, but significantly easier than the original and I'd recommend the PS1 version if you want something more accurate. 6 is a mixed bag since they took a lot of liberties with it while removing the liberties that other ports also took. It has some good mods, though.
I'm playing I and II right now via the FF Origins PSX version, it's great, but for III I was thinking of the Pixel Remaster. Or is there a better version of III to play? Also OP, for IV through VI, I think the original release is better, the Pixel Remasters are fine and the music sounds great, but to me they feel a bit cheap and overly standardized. Still enjoyable and much better than the ugly ones they delisted, even if those had more content.

You can switch old vs new music at will but you are forced to use the new gfx. I've played 1 and 2 to completion and parts of 3. 1 was very fun. 2 is playable and honestly this made me appreciate it much more now. Like it might be the best of the NES era for me now.

>>728978496Some people like the 3D version of 3 better, but I think it makes the game way too slow and the Job Adjustment shit was just the worst idea they could have come up with. I stand by the Pixel Remaster. I've played it twice and had a great time with it.
I'm still holding out for the GBA content to either be modded in or added as an update/DLC. Say what you want about them, the base games are too easy and the added content is a better test for your party building ability.
