Did you seriously 100% this game blind?
Angloids all sound the same to me. This is literally impossible.

The only part that I'd argue was a bit unintuitive was the chinese topmen. The rest you can figure out by just paying attention
>>
>>728982804
are you retarded? a deaf nigger could beat this game.

I bought it yesterday because it was on sale

idk its not showing for me
>>
>>728982804
I did beat it blind, though the topmen are incredibly annoying because you have to stare and compare at the tiniest details to figure out their identities. Also the guy from New Guinea doesn't look New Guinean, which is bullshit.
>>
>>728982804
>Angloids all sound the same to me
the voice acting in this game is actually kino if you think about it, i think about the guy saying "never been on a farm charlie" like every day

I'd say PC because navigating the book is probably a bit more awkward with a controller

Yes. But I'm formosan.

No, but if the leftists say I am and will give me shit, I won't argue. They say I am but say I need to give my shit to black people instead.

PC.

>>728990808
they got actual formosans as well. They sound weird but they have some actual hoiken shit there.
>>
>>728982804
You can beat the game by dead reckoning, how is it that hard for you?
>>
You can bruteforce quite a lot, even with the 3 niggas requirement. Its still very doable without it
>>
i got stuck after completing like 60% of the book (which took me several sessions of 2-3 hours each) and i gave up and found a "small hints guide". so i guess my 100% doesnt truly count.
have the devs of this done anything else btw? this game was so fucking good. i want more games like this
>>
>>728983225
This. I 100% the game, the biggest leaps in logic required are around getting the chinese topman right but even then there's subtle clues. It's a puzzle game, paying attention to details and working things out is literally the point of the game.
>>
>>728991835
Dev*, just one man Lucas Pope. Yes his first games is Papers please. Another great little game where you're a border guard is some communist state and have to process people across the border.

>>728982804
Retarded subhuman. At no point you need to listen to English voices to solve anything. The person who dies in the memory is marked with an X so you don't even need to tell two voices apart, you can just read it.
The only times a voice may matter is when they speak in accents but it's not the main clue. Like you can tell a guy is Swedish from his accent but in that same memory a guy calls him his steward so you would just look at the stewards
>>
>>728982804
I did, but it took an embarrasing amount of time.
I thought you had to be absolutely certain about everything, and not just "yeah, it's probably this guy".

Obra Dinn is still of the best detective games of all time, but in hindsight it's kinda lame how like 50% of the fates are people getting killed by terrible beasts. The most interesting fates to solve are ones where not only the identity but also the cause of death feel like genuine puzzles that require paying attention, like the injured guy who crawled away to safety only to get hit by a stray bullet through a wall, or the three people on the row boat that you can barely make out getting hurled into the air in the distance.

The Bossun mate red herring was also pretty funny. That sneaky fucker Pope hid a lot of shit in the background during the Kraken scenes.

Any more games like these where the answer isn't handed to you but it comes from careful observation, pattern recognition, and your own reasoning rather than explicit instructions?

Already played Outer wilds and blue prince
>>
>>728982804
I was thinking the same but then I 100% it without any guides.
What I did halfway through was:
>make a diagram of the sleeping deck's 1st scene
>do a headcount and mark every nationality, number, everything on each hammock
>make a diagram of the next sleeping deck scene
>and the 3rd one
>cross reference them and check them against previous events
This way you can easily check who from the sleeping deck died between the scenes, they all have numbered hammocks so you can check them on the crew list.

Golden Idol
Roottrees
Unheard seems like it fits the bill too but I haven't played it yet

Roottrees
Seance at the Blake Manor is cool, but it's also very easy.

>>729001150
>Golden Idol
How do you deal with this game? I played the demo and had very hard time recognizing characters between scenes due to the pixelart.
>>
>>729001025
The Witness and maybe Tunic?
>>
>>729001025
The two Golden Idol games if you haven't played them
Chants of Sennaar if you're into language deciphering (but honestly I wouldn't personally recommend the game, it's very forgettable and the endgame is really lame)
>>
>>729001140
>they all have numbered hammocks so you can check them on the crew list
One of the things I didn't like about this game was the fact that so much depends on the hammock numbers, and the idea that they match the crew list is ultimately just a convenient assumption

>Seance at the Blake Manor is cool, but it's also very easy.
I liked Blake Manor but I think it's really more of an adventure game than a mystery game
>How do you deal with this game? I played the demo and had very hard time recognizing characters between scenes due to the pixelart.
Most of the time you're not meant to rely on the art to identify characters, especially in later chapters where characters will be wearing masks and disguises and aging up and down or swapping bodies and shit
>>
>>729001214
>I played the demo and had very hard time recognizing characters between scenes due to the pixelart.
The first chapters are the ugliest and most inconsistent, later chapters get more consistent. When they made the DLC for the original game (and the entirety of the second game) they switched over to skeletal animation instead of frame-by-frame for portraits which helped a lot.
Either way, I don't think you ever need to remember faces between scenes. There's one character where remembering the face will clue you in on late-game plot points earlier than they are revealed outright, but it won't really help you solve any puzzles.

>Chants of Sennaar
This game is a nightmare for an ESL and I think the translation is ever harder than the Englsh script. I was filtered by the mural right after the tutorial because there were so many ways I could write words like people, guards, priests and temple
>>
>>729001562
I'm also ESL and I don't think that's true, I thought it replicated the "puzzle solving" aspect of learning a new language at an early stage very well, when you're breaking sentences down word by word and trying to map them to concepts in your native language. In fact my greatest criticism of the game is the word-confirmation mechanic and that they get auto-translated into coherent English instead of remaining caveman-like.
>>
>>728995892
its the most retarded in the lazarette chapters where you're forced to sit down and look at stills of mermaids getting shot for several minutes, with nothing else interesting going on in the background. it makes the game end on such a weak note when it should have been the high point of the game
>>
>>728982804
My main complaint was that you can get stuck pretty quickly in the early game and have to crapshoot your way forward, but after that it's mostly smooth sailing.
>>
>>729002105
The last chapter in general is such an immense letdown, I can't believe Pope thought it would be a good reveal. There was no twist or anything all that outrageous happening, really.
