>gaming on Linux
Large games impossible to play because of anti cheats incompatible with Linux including titles like F1 2025
Games either run like crap or have random issues. CS2, a valve game, has unfixable fps drops on Linux because of VAC
Lots of smaller, more niche games are impossible to play like arcade games using spice and asphyxia
Everything you wanna set up is an absolute struggle and it feels like Linux is constantly on life support with 6 programs on a drip feed just to run a game. Download assetto Corsa, need to look up 28 minute guide on how to get it working with content manager. Still half broken. A drag and drop process on windows
Get used to seeing "how to start basic game, a comprehensive guide" whenever something doesn't work
I'll still stick to Linux because I'm more privacy focused but don't let the Linux shills tell you "oh all your games work it's all sunshine and rainbows"

All a small price to pay to get rid of Microshit

Just play real games instead of live service shit for turd worlders & russians?

I like playing F1 with my friends but cannot.
>>728985409
Agreed but people on here shill Linux like it runs everything.

hijaking this thread to ask what the best all around distro is. Ive been using Mint for a month or so now and its being really fucking weird with some of my games.

Because it runs everything they care about.
Source: The fact that they decided to use it and then didn't stop using it.

Any game with kernel level anti-cheat isn't worth playing anyway.

It does run everything that I've wanted to play. You can't seriously be stupid enough to propose that I would somehow know what your personal experience with it would be when you don't play the same games and clearly don't have the same level of ability.
Have you ever considered that? I can't predict your personal experience with a piece of software, I can only describe mine.

I updated to w11 and after a few days I'm not seeing any problems
I'm glad I didn't believe the linux trannies

Not him but you would be the stupid one if you're one of those people who've promoted Linux as 'running everything'. It's not a mark of intelligence to imagine your personal experience as being universal, especially when discussing technology. When you make statements like 'Linux runs everything' or portray that as being the case, there's a reasonable assumption that can be made of a certain level of objectivity there. If that's not the case then the more accurate thing to say would be something like 'I use so and so and say and for these specific things, Linux runs pretty well'.

Exactly why I made this thread

Stupid take. I never said you can't get games working, I said this is objectively how Linux is.
>>728986878
It's all stupid behind the scenes stuff. Yeah you can turn it off but I don't trust anything as being "off" when it comes to mainstream services.

Games are a PITA to play on Windows too. I remember spending entire nights trying to get Bethesda games to run well or even at all back in the day, Windows defender can be hypersensitive to game files and delete them quietly resulting in errors, also you run the risk of infecting your PC with malware if you pirate which isn't as much of a risk on Linux because all the l33ts target Windows. After playing on SD and Switch 2 for a while I can't believe I spent years on Windows where games don't even open fullscreen on an initial launch.

PC gaming just fucking sucks to be honest. Linux gaming is just mostly better because most of the shit is done for you, look into Lutris installers and Valve's "Great on Deck" program. I still love it though, I hope that one day my Steam library becomes as easy to play and manage as games on my Switch 2 are. Just click and play with no bullshit.

I'm not, but those people don't exist in the first place. Everyone already knows that many multiplayer games don't run and I've never seen anyone claiming they all work. Also, people claim all games work on windows 10, which is objectively false and nobody seems to have a problem with that. Maybe because they know the necessary work arounds, so they pretend the issues don't exist?
