I only ever really played Guitar Hero III and Mega Man Anniversary Collection on it since the other games my dad had were dogshit sportslop.I got the Fat PS2 a few weeks ago because I felt like playing games off of the hard drive. USB loading is a no-go for me since I saw how the FMVs stutter. I'm perfectly fine with emulation but playing on a TV is nice and there's something kinda neat about playing on original hardware. Not saying it's objectively worth it, but I dunno it's kinda cool. And yeah there are downsides to PCSX2 in particular, they've ironed out a lot of issues but you still get random stutters in games like Gradius V for example

Most of the games I own are PS2 games and they're almost all from when I was a kid. I think overall I prefer the fifth generation of game, I find myself mostly playing PS1 and Saturn games, but the PS2 library is incredible and almost everything is modern enough to not really feel super janky and unplayable.The gap in gameplay smoothness and style from the sixth gen to now really isn't that wide, remakes of games from that time feel more like complete departures that ruin the game or at best feel like more of a game you already like like RE4 Remake.From one Zoomie to another, the PS2 is goated.I haven't even bothered with Sony since the PS4.
Speaking of PS2 hardware, is there a definitive list of games that have memory card corruption bugs? I know about SoulCalibur III, any others so I can avoid those bugs?
