Jak II is considered one of the worst games in /v/ history, despite the fact it got really good review scores and sales when it first released back in Fall 2003. The reason for the drastic departure was because Naughty Dog felt that the 3D platformer phase was going out, and needed to mature the Jak franchise to keep it afloat and relevant in the long run. Around the same time as Jak II, Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg released, which was not only criticized for its janky game physics and difficulity, but also how overly childish and juvenille it was. Billy Hatcher is forgotten today, with Sega even dropping him from their crossover games, while the Jak games are fondly remembered. If Jak continued the same tone and gameplay as The Precursor Legacy? Would it still be remembered today?
Jak 2 is one of the best games of all time no wonder this shithole hates it
>>728999578Probably not, games that succeed are typically formatted for success in the market that they are released into. The market wanted a game closer to Jak II than Billy Hatcher.Although really, people were just kind of done with the genre in general.
Jak 2 is a great game just not a great Jak and Daxter game
