The problem with Starfield is travel and exploration gameplay loop which they can’t really change. Take Skyrim for example
>have quest in location I haven’t been to
>one loading screen maybe to get to open world
>dynamically see cool stuff while walking
>see unique location in distance and get distracted
>feel like explorer
Yeah if you want to go in a cave it’s a loading screen but you can go from one side of the map to the other without interruption of loading screen. Starfield is broken by virtue of 1000 planets and loading screens separating everything
>enter town
Loading screen
>enter ship
Loading screen
>have to warp
Loading screen
>land on planet
LOADING SCREEN
>finally get to explore small section of planet
>there’s one location that is copy/pasted from a location you saw three hours ago and five hours ago and ten hours ago and I don’t care. There’s nothing to explore.

Yes, they have no choice but to fake seamlessness like No Man's Sky or Elite Dangerous does. It's lame otherwise.

No, this is how Bethesda operates now. It's much easier and cheaper to start """"rumors"""" than it is to run an ad campaign, that's how they advertised the Oblivion remake, it's how they're advertising the FO3 remake and it's how they're advertising the Starfield update.

Clunky controls are 100% the reason I dropped the game, but I could have persisted if the procgen wasn't so poorly implemented. I honestly expected that we'd be able to land somewhere, pick a direction, and just keep walking endlessly while encountering the occasional procgen POI and dynamic events. Basically Daggerfall++, which was what they had advertised. What was the point of all that procgen covering whole worlds, if the gameplay is to land in a tiny sandbox with 3-5 fixed POI and zero other content until you loading screen to the next sandbox? It was such a soul-crushing waste of the technology. The appeal of the wild world was castrated, and trying to just focus on the main content, main quest, was so clunky and frustrating I eventually couldn't motivate myself to keep playing.

If this was an actual guerilla ad campaign they would have more than just a data mined cruise drive mode. For REblivion, from the first rumors, we had more to go on. And the FO3 remake was in their leaked FTC schedule. This Starfield bullshit is nothing more than clickbait.

Yeah Bethesda has always been clunky yet I imagine you have an older clunky Bethesda game you enjoy playing still. The selling point of Bethesda games is exploration of the world first, and the mod support second. Skyrim hasn’t sold on everything from Smart Refrigerators to the PS5 because of the controls. People play Bethesda games in spite of them. Starfield tried to get you to enjoy piloting a ship and shooting as your main gameplay outside of endless loading screens and it failed. Theres no point to exploring endless nothing.
>Daggerfall++
That’s what I was thinking it was going to be too. But starfield is not that. It’s just a collection of loading screens and fast travel locations. It’s just so boring. Even talking about it is boring. Daggerfall++ is literally what the next elder scrolls game will be. I still have a semblance of hope for that simply because the outline for it was already made decades ago. There anre these cities and Mountains and Rivers. It is well within even nuBethesda’s wheelhouse to make an interesting map. And there isn’t any reason to break the game with endless loading screens. All I want from Bethesda is the ability to walk from one end of the Hammerfell(or whatever country) to another without a loading screen. If they can do that I’m 70% sold on es6
