There's nothing wrong with sacrificing strangers to save someone you love. Utilitarianism isn't an objective parameter of morality, and life doesn't have unitary value. Letting your loved one be killed would be just as bad, if not worse since family bonds are the basis of human society and our raison d'etre.

>>729016215I like Heaven's Feel the most because being selfish and trying to save someone you love feels the most human. It's also a nice change up from Shirou's ideals in the previous routes. I don't think there's anything necessarily wrong with wanting to save everyone, but the selfishness of saving someone you love is a story beat I personally really like in a lot of fiction.

The Fireflys are incredibly incompetent, they've also betrayed him in multiple ways least of which is not paying him which brings up questions of their trustworthiness. All of that adds up and his heel turn of offing their entire enclave for someone who was trustworthy for months on the road makes much more sense not simply out of love but actual loyalty. The second game ruins it with retcons so that drunkmann can have his special boy moment of getting the story he actually wanted.
