Honestly, I might've liked the mode if the matchmaking put more effort into keeping similar ranks grouped. As an opt-in competitive mode, many silver-platinum players are good at the game, so they typically aren't free wins and result in high risk low reward matchups for climbing. Being encouraged to alt+f4 repeatedly at lobby is lame as hell.

The most slept on gadget in the casual sphere is currently DPMB (Dash Panel Mini Bounty). Dash panels are everywhere, particularly in the final 1000m. Building around ring boost makes it effortless to not only slipstream to first, but break away after you make it there.

I bought this game since it was on sale, had some fun in the grand prix but couldn't get into an online match will try again though as it was late. Overall a good game but i don't know if I like the 'doing a random lap of another track in each race' thing.

DPMB is a big reason why I prefer that build to QR builds, which lose all their speed as soon as they're in front. Going all in on rings makes you the fastest vehicle in lap 3.
My faith in L2 QC is wavering a bit these days since I think the times you want to be in front you're already getting that boost type from dash panels or items anyway, but it feels really good being able to snake L2s mid-slipstream to hit max speed without those.

Defense item chance up is surprisingly decent for frontrunning. The game is very generous with tornadoes, wisps, and shields when you have it on.

Of the 100some points I lost in the past hour, about 60 of it was to track jank I've never seen before.
Other than that, today's probably the most fun I had in LC. Active queue with good matchmaking, evenly-matched games with no group stacks shitting up the front. If the event were like that all the way through I wouldn't have peaced out after day 1.
